This weekend, we completed our final chassis model in PVC, and then coated the joints in fibreglass and resin, making them very solid. We built some jigs for holding the building materials in place while we cut them. After that we cut our carbon fibre tubes for the outer frame and glued the two halves (top and bottom) separately but not together. We also looked At the wiring of our new cnc lathe; which we will use to construct are rear hubs.

We built a model of our design in PVC, however we thought it was longer than it needed to be, and also our original design had two long pieces, rather than one single one, so it was less strong. We changed our design, and rebuilt on the 19th complete with model seat and floor tray. We then realised that we would need a larger back end to fit the motor and batteries; we plan on building this on the 9th January along with jigs to hold the kart in place when we glue it. On the 3rd January, we 3D printed some prototype connectors- this will be cheaper and lighter than buying them, and we plan on using them just to hold the carbon fibre in place before wrapping the joints in carbon fibre tape and coating them with resin to solidify them.
