Today I want to talk about socks. Not the run of the mill, day to day sock. The anatomically correct, comfy as can be running sock. I’m quite fussy about my running socks, so I was keen when Kate from offered to send me a pair of hers to try out. Route40 is a small business and I’m a believer in supporting small businesses. She sent me a free pair, and I promised an honest review in return.
First impressions were good. I was a bit confused by the ‘L’s printed on both socks. I normally wear hilly’s or Nikes and both of these have an L and an R. A quick message to Kate confirmed they were L for large. They are still anatomically correct. You just use the logo to denote right and left.
About that logo. I was initially concerned about it. It’s quite a heavy duty piece of embroidery, and I thought it might cause friction. The last thing anyone needs is an unnecessary cause of chafing. My fears were soon dispelled though. I wore these for multiple runs. Urban, trail, long distance, with no issues at all. In fact, I really loved them. I ran across the forth road bridge when it was a bit breezy, but they were snug. I wore them for a trail run up and over Arthur’s seat, splashing in the mud, and they washed out just fine. Wore them for a long run in the Cairngorms with no chafing or blisters. They provide a bit of compression support without being too tight. Just spot on.
So if you are looking for a new running sock, give them a try. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed!
