Is there a question where the answer isn’t lift weights??

There are soooo many benefits but if fat loss is the reason you started exercising then learning how to lift is the best type of training you can do. That’s because muscles burn more calories when you are at rest than fat does.

Muscle burns around 13 kcals/kg per day and fat around 5 kcals/kg a day.

You also get an after burn after high intensity strength training. That means that you keep burning extra calories for up to 72 hours after your workout.

And you improve body composition … that toned look… comes from lifting weights.

If you want to learn how to lift safely get in touch. It’s really important to learn the correct form when you are starting out.

Progressive overload means gradually increasing the intensity of your strength training workouts to increase muscle size, strength and endurance.

You can….
💪Increase the resistance by adding more weight
💪 Increase the number of repetitions
💪 Speed up the reps
💪 Workout for longer

In all of these your muscles are put under more stress, which forces them to adapt and strengthen.

Progressive overload is a gradual process. Adding too much weight too quickly will cause injury so you want to build it up slowly over time. Rest days are super important!

This is a really fun way to train. You can see progression and challenge yourself. It also makes you feel amazing. It’s an absolute high when you lift more than you lifted yesterday and makes you feel a total badass 👊

We have started a new strength training phase down at FitWorks Chinnor. I am loving teaching members about the importance of lifting weights and the benefits of progressive overload.

It’s so important to lift with the correct form so we are starting with the basics which is why this is perfect for beginners. And it’s super satisfying because you will see big differences in strength through the course.

Lots of people, particularly women, are scared at the prospect of lifting heavy and are worried about bulking. You will not bulk! You will however improve your chances of living a longer, healthier life.

Naomi is off on holiday today and she will be confidently wearing a bikini for the first time in many years 👙🔥❤️

In 8 weeks Naomi lost 13lbs and a huge 6 inches off of her waist, 2 inches from her arms and legs and 3 inches from her chest.

Naomi says

‘The 8 week transformation has been a fantastic start for my health and well-being. I came across Emily some months previously on Facebook and it took time to get my head in the right place to take the next step and I haven’t looked back and been very grateful ever since.

I had been stuck on the usual life treadmill making excuses and not taking care of my body. I wanted to improve my fitness and overall body and mental health for my young family. This is especially important now I am at an age that menopause is fast approaching so wanted to get my body as strong and healthy as possible. This had to be a life change not just 8 weeks.

The weeks have passed so quickly and have been so much more manageable than I expected. I have noticed my enthusiasm for exercise has exceeded my own expectations. I love the weekly classes and miss them if I can’t make one. I can see the improvements in my strength and fitness already.

The nutrition plan has been perfect for me and I have noticed that my cravings have gone and I feel full everyday. I have tried all the other diet plans and always craved sugar and felt the need for blowouts, but I have not had this once on the transformation. It has not felt like a chore to follow or felt deprived….

Emily has been amazing and has motivated and pushed me at all of the right times. Her passion for what she does shines through which has made the plan and exercise enjoyable and achievable.

I made the decision to have personal training with Emily alongside the plan and through this and the weekly classes I have seen an increase in my strength and ability… There is a great group feel even though you are on your own personal journey. I can’t recommend the whole process enough and look forward to making this part of my life going forward’

I am loving how amazing P looks 8 weeks after starting her transformation journey with me (and she’s still going, this is just the beginning).

Over the 8 weeks P lost 1 stone 5lbs (8.6kg) and a huge 5.5 inches from her waist, 3 inches from her chest & hips and 1.5 inches from her arms. The difference is a 2 dress size reduction in just 2 months!

But our transformation plans aren’t just about weight loss. Whilst we provide an easy to follow, personalised nutrition plan it is combined with weekly exercise classes and accountability. We build strength and we change mindsets. We teach you new healthy habits and behaviours and a new way of living that centres around your wellbeing.

Do you struggle to fit in exercise around looking after your baby? Want some time to look after your own well-being and meet other mums? Join me for a special mums and babies session, bring baby along. FREE SESSION as I’m seeing what the interest is like to run future classes. 1.45pm - 2.30pm at Chinnor Playing Fields, Chinnor Pavilion. No equipment needed but please make sure baby has a buggy or car seat. The session is outside and looks like it will be warm so bring plenty of water and sun cream! Drop me a DM to book.
