Mickleover Vets 5–0 Beeston Vets

Beeston Vets travelled to Mickleover for a midweek evening kick-off, but it proved to be a tough outing as the hosts ran out 5–0 winners.

The game began positively, with both sides putting passes together and looking to play on the front foot. However, it didn’t take long for Mickleover to assert themselves and start to control possession. Looking a well‑drilled and organised side, they moved the ball confidently and began to create chances. Beeston defended resolutely in the early stages, combining last‑ditch blocks with some strong goalkeeping to keep the hosts at bay.

Eventually the pressure told. A well‑weighted through ball released a Mickleover attacker, whose pace took him clear. He rounded the keeper calmly before slotting the ball home to open the scoring.

Beeston responded well and created a couple of promising opportunities of their own. Michael Rainbow produced a brilliant run, beating several players, but was unable to find a finish. Soon after, Steve Hughes latched onto a forward pass and attempted an audacious lob, which narrowly drifted wide of the target.
Mickleover soon doubled their advantage with a free kick from just outside the area, expertly placed into the bottom corner. The hosts continued to press, hitting the post shortly after, although Beeston’s defence reacted quickly to prevent a rebound effort. Another Mickleover chance was dramatically cleared off the line, but just before half-time the hosts found a third goal to cap a dominant opening 45 minutes.

The second half saw a reset from Beeston and a much closer contest. Both sides created chances, with Beeston pushing higher up the pitch. A Beeston free kick resulted in a decent effort on target, but it was struck straight at the Mickleover keeper.

A quick counter-attack then restored Mickleover’s momentum. Their right winger delivered a high cross that caught the wind and looped unexpectedly over the Beeston keeper to make it four. Minutes later, Mickleover were awarded a contentious penalty, which was confidently converted to complete the scoring.

Despite the scoreline, Beeston showed resilience and moments of quality, particularly in the second half.

The two sides will meet again soon in a cup semi-final, where Beeston will be looking for a very different outcome.

Ilkeston Vets 2–2 Beeston Vets

After over two months without a competitive fixture, Beeston Vets were keen to kick‑start their year with a win. With a full squad available and facing an Ilkeston side who had played only a couple of league games, Beeston came into the match confident. However, a sluggish opening almost proved costly.

Ilkeston created the first clear chance of the game, their striker getting on the end of a long ball between Beeston’s two centre‑backs. The Beeston goalkeeper reacted well, rushing off his line to close the angle and deny the striker before he could pick his spot.

Beeston gradually grew into the game and began to create opportunities of their own. Woodward went close after cutting in from the right, beating the last defender and aiming his shot to the left of the Ilkeston keeper, only to see it drift narrowly wide.
A few minutes later, Beeston made the breakthrough. A Woodward corner tempted the Ilkeston keeper off his line, but he failed to hold the ball, dropping it at the feet of Malc Semenytsh, who reacted quickest to smash a low finish into the back of the net.

The remainder of the first half turned into a tight midfield battle, with neither side willing to give ground. Chances were limited as both teams cancelled each other out, and Beeston went into the break holding a narrow advantage.

Beeston’s lead was short‑lived after the restart. Just minutes into the second half, a lapse in concentration allowed the Ilkeston striker to meet a well‑delivered cross from the left. From just four yards out, he beat his marker and tapped home the equaliser.

Undeterred, Beeston pushed forward again and were rewarded with a well‑worked second goal. The move started at left full‑back, where Rainbow surged forward before playing inside to Southwell. Southwell turned and slipped a neat pass into McMullen, who shifted the ball out of his feet and calmly slotted past the diving keeper from 20 yards.

Despite taking the lead for a second time, Beeston were unable to capitalise on their advantage. With eight minutes remaining, Ilkeston punished them from a corner, mirroring Beeston’s earlier goal. The ball was not dealt with in the box, and from six yards out the Ilkeston attacker made no mistake to level the scores once more.

Beeston almost snatched a winner late on. Another corner was only partially cleared, and the ball fell to Gealy, who beat the offside trap but saw his close‑range effort well saved by the Ilkeston goalkeeper.

The match finished 2–2, with both sides feeling they could have done more to take all three points. For Beeston, it felt like two points dropped rather than one gained.

EAST BRIDGFORD DADS 2 - 1 BEESTON VETS

Beeston Beaten by Last-Minute Counter Attack
Beeston travelled to East Bridgford Dads this week riding high on a four-game unbeaten run, and they started the match with confidence. The first half was tightly contested, with neither side able to carve out clear-cut chances. Both teams resorted to long-range efforts, with Bridgford coming closest when a speculative cross-shot clipped the top of the bar.
Beeston felt aggrieved not to be awarded a penalty after a clear handball from a corner went unnoticed by the officials. That moment aside, the first half remained a cagey affair, marked by disciplined defending and few opportunities.

The second half saw Beeston come out firing. Liam Woodward capitalised on a poor pass and drilled a low shot to the keeper’s left, only to be denied by a superb save. Moments later, Woodward had another chance but dragged his shot just wide.

Bridgford broke the deadlock from a corner that Beeston failed to clear. The ball was recycled into the six-yard box, where an unmarked midfielder headed home.

Beeston responded immediately—Woodward timed his run perfectly, rounded the keeper, and calmly slotted in the equaliser.

The game opened up as both sides pushed for a winner. Woodward and Henson had golden chances, with the Bridgford keeper—clearly man of the match—making another brilliant save before Henshaw fired the rebound over. Mark Coleman then nearly gave Beeston the lead with a low drive from the left, but again the keeper tipped it around the post.

With just two minutes remaining, Beeston were caught on the break. Losing possession on the edge of Bridgford’s box, they were exposed by a swift counter down the right. A pinpoint cross found Bridgford’s winger, who laid it off for the onrushing midfielder to bury the winner in the bottom corner.

It was a heartbreaking end for Beeston, who had hoped to extend their unbeaten run. Both teams could have claimed the win and would have deserved it, but Bridgford’s experience and clinical finishing saw them edge a thrilling contest.

BEESTON BLITZ WB NOTTS IN OPENING TEN MINUTES
Beeston FC delivered a scintillating start, scoring three goals in the first ten minutes to dismantle WB Notts in a thrilling encounter.
Malcom Semenytsh opened the scoring with a bullet header after a pinpoint cross from Mark Coleman, following a high press and recovery by Jamie Forde. Moments later, Antonel Arnautu latched onto a through ball from Adam McMullen, slotting it low past the keeper. Arnautu doubled his tally on ten minutes, using his pace to beat the last defender and finish clinically. WB Notts struggled to respond, with wayward shooting and Beeston’s tightening defence limiting them to long-range efforts. McMullen added a fourth with a composed half-volley from the edge of the box, giving Beeston a commanding 4–0 lead at the break.
Beeston introduced new signings Jamie Comery and Nathan Henshaw, adding fresh attacking options. WB Notts pulled one back with a quick break, catching Beeston’s defence off guard. Beeston responded instantly through Stephen Read, who netted a long-range strike—his second in as many games. WB Notts added another after their winger beat the defender, retrieved his own blocked cross, and deceived the keeper with a clever near-post finish. Comery continued to trouble WB Notts’ back line, but Beeston couldn’t find a sixth.
A strong team performance saw Beeston secure a 5–2 win, with all players getting valuable minutes. With ten goals in their last two matches, Beeston are building serious momentum.

Match report.

Willow wanderers 3 Beeston Vets 5

This was Beeston Vets third league fixture and needed a win following a couple of hard to take defeats.

Beeston started well with some good midfield play. Some crosses from Mark caused some havoc in the wanderers area but Beeston were unable to convert. The pressure continued and good chances kept coming. Liam had an effort on target but could not beat their goally.

Willow wanderers then had a break away with their number 7 proving to be a handful. A great slide tackle from craig won the ball but the referee despite admitting not seeing the tackle decided to give a penalty. This infuriated the Beeston manager who saw red. Luckily not a red card but a bit of red mist. Despite Beestons best efforts to distract the taker he slotted the ball past shauns outstretched leg.

Beeston went again and soon found themselves with a penalty of their own thanks to a push in the back of malcolm. Thanks ref 🙌. This was slotted away by Beestons penalty taker sending the goally the wrong way. Willow wanderers did hit the bar and some good defending from corners with Adam winning some great headers kept the scores even.

Half time 1 all.

Following an inspirational team talk from Beestons manager the travelling Vets took to the field wanting to get on top again. Beeston started quickly and it didnt take long for Beeston to take the lead. A long range effort from steve which dipped was too much for the willows goally. A few minutes later liam 1 on 1 found the net to make it 3 1. A decent finish.

Willows then managed to fight back and get back into the game. A couple of soft goals conceded made it 3 each. Willows finishing from close range winning the rebounds. Beeston felt the keeper was impeded for willows 2nd goal.

Beeston continued to play football and kept creating. The midfield again were all top quality.

Following a bit of rain on a sunny day brought in the rainbow. Some great running down the left and a decent cross from Rainbow found antonel who slotted home.

Some great link up play between Antonel and rainbow finished with the final goal. Following both taking on and beating players rainbow found the bottom corner.

Some great performances all round. Adam was awarded motm following a great display 👏.

Beeston vets 5 3 winning.

Onto next week...

FA Trust Vets 5-1 FC Beeston Vets.

Great game against a really good Bunch of lads. After a set back of conceding in the first five minutes Beeston fought back and took control of the game Liam WOODWARD scored to bring us back in the game. At the start of the second half Beeston hit the post and could have took control of the game. The FA Trust Academy Veterans retook the lead scoring from a corner after there striker was left unmarked to head home. A keeper error let them in for a third and Sadly Beeston could not turn the tide and conceding another 2 goals in the last ten minutes.

Beeston’s first competitive game was very positive despite the result with lots to learn for the next game.
