Charlie Callaway

The Young Volunteer of the Year Award is often presented to someone supported by experienced volunteers around them. This year’s winner, Charlie Callaway, has achieved something remarkable largely through his own efforts.

At just 18 years old, Charlie re-established Child Okeford Football Club, bringing football back to the village after several years without a team. Starting with no experience but plenty of enthusiasm, he recruited players, built a squad, and created a welcoming environment where everyone is given a chance to play and enjoy the game.

Charlie has taken on every role imaginable, including chairperson, coach, player, and groundsman. His dedication has helped create a strong team spirit and a thriving club.

As one nominator wrote: “Charlie is an incredible young man and a role model to those younger and older than himself. His can-do attitude and commitment are an inspiration. Football needs more people like him.”

Congratulations to the Young Volunteer of the Year, Charlie.

Today team manager Charlie and players Archie + Toby were down in child okeford running drills for the local children at the community centres REC & DEC opening.
A great afternoon and good to see a great turnout. Thank you to everyone who came and got stuck in with the football.

Come on down this afternoon to child okeford for REC & DEC As we celebrate the opening of the brand new decking. The club will be hosting lots of mini games throughout that afternoon so if you are looking for something to do in this hot weather come on down have a burger at the bbq and let the kids play some football.
