Chichester parkrun report 22nd August 2026 #544
It was a great day for a parkrun, an even better day for a parkrun at Oaklands Park in Chichester.
This was my first visit to Chichester parkrun, I parked in the Northgate Car Park and it is a short walk to the start next to Chichester Festival Theatre.
A warm and sunny morning greeted the 375 parkrunners supported by 26 volunteers - who week in and week out make sure we all have a fun (and safe) event, so big thanks to them.
The course is 3 laps of Oaklands Park on undulating, predominately grass tracks. It is narrow in places but generally plenty of room for passing, single buggies and dogs on leads. The course itself provides some shade. There was a comprehensive run briefing and it is well marshalled by supportive and happy volunteers.
The parkrun was completed by Alexander Butler (M) in 16:54 (PB) and Esme Rowbotham (F) in 20:26 (PB), the fastest times of the day and the tail walkers Emma Wickens & Johanna Harrison in 1:04:27 – I hope this emphasises the range of abilities parkrun (run, walk or skip) can provide for and how inclusive parkrun is.
For me it is what I do on a Saturday morning, like millions more, it is great for my health & well-being and keeping my fitness ticking over each week. It was my first visit to Chichester parkrun and it is a pleasant alternative from my local parkrun in Lee on the Solent which is along the prom.
There were also visitors from Worthing, Wi******er, Basingstoke, Sevenoaks, Bristol, Guildford, Maidstone, Manchester, Botley and Gillingham.
A shout out for the Run Academy Worthing group who did a naked run (do not worry, its just running without a watch!) and the group running in Tutu’s for the date.
Well done to the 6 first timers and the 86 visiting Chichester for the first time – see you all again soon. There were also 59 PBs – awesome.
