SHIBASHI 1, the first in a series of qigong forms or sets created in 1979 by Professor Lin Housheng. Set 1 is my favourite moving meditation which combines rhythmic breathing with gentle, flowing movements. The movements effectively exercise each part of the body whilst easing stress and tension. Each of the 18 movements targets areas of the body helping to promote balance and circulation. Regular practice may help regulate blood pressure, alleviate arthritis pain, and improve flexibility, balance, and posture. The movements are low-impact and easily modified. It can be done standing or sitting, making it suitable for varying mobility levels and ages.
