5 long years…

This songs not entirely accurate, I didn’t stumble across these pictures - I actively looked for them. I do it all the time because I fu***ng miss you big man.

5 years without without one of my closet friends
5 years without my business partner
5 years without my dad
5 years without you and mum being together

Becoming a dad has changed me, now it’s too early to be sure, but it feels like in a good way. It’s changed my perspective, forced me to reassess things and also taken me on some trips ‘down memory lane’.
Although loosing you has made a hole in my heart that I can’t imagine will ever be filled, I can’t not think back on all the good times we had. Far from a Disney fairy tale all the time, but as real as it gets - and for that I’m 100% grateful.
Arlo’s middle name is Edwin, unfortunately life didn’t allow you both to cross paths - which puts a lump in my throat just to type. But he’s gunna know all about you. How you put your mind to something and worked hard to make it happen, like setting up and running three business simultaneously. How you were one of the most forward thinking people I’ve ever met, ideas and events that are still considered ground breaking, like bringing some of the worlds best DJ’s to Bognor Regis, organising a 48hr rave in an old castle on the Island of Wight along with a bundle of other things that are both humbling whilst overwhelming to consider.
Above all that, you made time for us. Taught me lessons and led by example. At times I felt like I let you down, but I now know that you had high standards for us because you wanted the best for us. I aim to try and install some of the same values on my boy with the hope he can be like you.
