The summer holidays have been chaotic, bonkers and completely full-on. 😅
The juggle of home, family, work, social plans and everything in between has, at times, left me feeling completely depleted and like I’m running on empty.
And if I’m honest, there have been moments where I’ve thought, “I just need to keep going.”
But I’m becoming increasingly conscious of the importance of filling my own cup and looking after myself, not just because I need it, but because I don’t want to continue carrying the burdens, patterns and expectations that have been passed down through previous generations.
Because the thing is…
We have a choice. ❤️
If you feel like you’re carrying previous generational burdens into your parenting, please know that the control is yours.
You can make changes whenever you feel ready. You can choose to do things differently. You can break cycles, create new patterns and give your children something different to carry forward.
And so often, that change starts with you.
With your mental health.
With your wellbeing.
With your mindset.
With giving yourself permission to rest, reset and look after yourself.
And for me, that always, always, always starts with sleep. 😴
Because when we are rested, we have more capacity to regulate our emotions, respond rather than react, make positive choices and show up as the parent we want to be.
Sleep isn’t selfish.
Looking after yourself isn’t selfish.
Filling your cup isn’t selfish.
It’s part of breaking the cycle.
So if the summer holidays have left you running on empty, perhaps this is your gentle reminder that you matter too. 🤍
And if you’re ready to make a change to your family’s sleep, I’m here to help.
