If I had a pound everytime someone said to me “but you’re already fully qualified, why are you training again” I’d be able to afford those extra Wunda chairs I want for the studio!!
When I decided to bridge onto the Classical Comprehensive training course with Amy Kellow ✨ Classical Pilates Teacher Trainer | Mentor it was for a number of reasons. To deepen my understanding of the Classical method, to learn from an incredible 2nd generation Pilates teacher (who was trained by Jay Grimes, who was trained by Joseph Pilates himself), to challenge my body, to make me a better teacher. What I didn’t anticipate was that on top of all of that I would meet the most wonderful group of strong super women. A team who would support each other through the highs and the lows. I also didn’t anticipate how hard it would be, fitting in all the hours of intense study and practice alongside running and growing my own studio & team. I can honestly say every hour, the sweat, the tears (there were a few), the juggle. It was all worth it! So relieved to have passed my final assessment yesterday. To do it as part of a team with these amazing ladies was an honour! So fortunate to have discovered Amy. The quality of her teaching and the way she brings people together as a community. Looking forward to future technique development days, workshops and of course the Masters Mentorship in May 27 (eeeek!).
For now though, my achy muscles are having an afternoon off to rest!!

What a weekend!! So hugely thankful to have had the opportunity to learn from such an incredible person Kathi Ross-Nash Red Thread . I heard one of her students say “Joe Pilates was the first genius, Kathi is the second” and I couldn’t agree more. My mind is filled with information, my muscles ache, and I’m looking forward to getting into the studio to practice on my own body and share new insights with my teachers and clients. Going into this workshop I was a little bit terrified but Kathi teaches with such warmth and humour that I needn’t have worried - although she is an absolute machine and my goodness did we work HARD!! 😁 I wish I’d had more questions to ask, but everything she told us, everything she explained just made so much sense!!! The sort of knowledge that can only come from decades of teaching and deeply studying the method. I love how Kathi described teaching as a gift, sharing the method - and her passion really showed through.
So grateful to Amy Amy Kellow ✨ Classical Pilates Teacher Trainer | Mentor for organising this and making it all possible. Thank you for continually making us better teachers 😘

Tomorrow I’ll probably be found staring into space trying to process all this new information, and working out how to stand up with so many sore muscles!! 😂

We have air con! ❄️
It’s only a temporary loan for a few days but by golly are we grateful for it. Most of the heat comes in though the mat studio so this will help keep mat & tower studio cool, and have a knock on effect on the rest of the building.

Along with all the tips and tricks we learnt last heatwave we’re managing to keep the studios cooler this time and we have loved seeing so many of you coming to class, moving your bodies and feeling better for it!

Our specially prepared cooling cloth cool downs went down a treat yesterday so we’ll continue using those at the end of classes whilst it is still hot out.

So very grateful for the loan of the air con unit. Showing once again how incredibly fortunate we are to be based somewhere as unique and special as Lavant House - such a secret gem of a place! ❤️❤️

Those who have been with us a while might remember our lovely Jenny, who was a regular client with us at Be:Poised Pilates before jetting off for a new adventure in Australia.
Thank you to Claire for keeping the secret and sneaking her into the studio without me seeing so that she could surprise me! The BEST surprise!!! ❤️

We LOVE the Mat work and firmly believe that everyone should make time for the Mat. Yes the springs and uniqueness of the apparatus is appealing, but Pilates was designed as a system encompassing all apparatus including the Mat. The Mat is part of your main workout, it is where you put everything you have learnt elsewhere to the test as you move and challenge your body.
It is also the part of Pilates you can take anywhere. No time to get to the studio today? Practice some mat at home.

Rethink how you see Mat work.
It’s not just slow motion knee folds and carefully curated aesthetics. Yes, when you are learning we establish the ground work carefully - and then it grows! This is what a full Mat workout can look like - it moves, it’s challenging. Forget what it looks like and focus on what it feels like. Push your body, let it get a little messy sometimes (then work to tidy it up!), embrace the sweaty beetroot look…I certainly did here!

Phew it’s hot! 🥵
With no class in the Mat/Tower studio we took advantage of all the fans to help keep Gina’s 1:1 client cool earlier today!!
Pilates in the heat may look a little different. We may choose different exercises, move at a slower pace, BUT we will still have you getting connected with your body, finding your strength and working hard. The Cadillac, chairs and spine corrector all came into their own today giving clients some lovely work that still felt manageable and enjoyable in this heat!

Tomorrow’s timetable is back to normal as it should be a good 5-6 degrees cooler outside. However it is still hot so hydrate yourselves, bring water, bring a towel! We’ll supply the fans, fresh air and tailored expert teaching 😁
