Beginning Aikido; Aikido is a Japanese martial art that is highly aerobic in nature. Aikido's principals uphold that the mind and the body are one. When a person acts in this concentrated manner, great power is possible. Since Aikido movements are circular in nature, requiring flexibility, balance and timing, there is no need to result to conflict with the force of any attacker. By joining with th

e motion of your partner, and taking control of their force, it is possible to redirect the power safely and effectively. Our practice intails how to take falls, thus becoming a form of self defense. Our Aikido techniques do not match strength against strength, so you do not have to be strong to practice Aikido, but eventually you will become strong with time. Aikido is effective for all physical builds, skill levels and ages, as it uses the mechanics of the body to control an opponent.
