We went into this season full of optimism and ambition, a mix of young, keen talented boys, and a couple of older heads took everything in their stride.

Although it ended with us just missing out in the cup final and winner takes all league games, I could not be prouder of this group. Our county cup run beating some very good sides... oh and Beaumont Park was real pleasing, especially going to peoples back yards, beating the likes Ovingdean and Welcroft awaywere performances to be real proud of!

The big thing for me was seeing teams turn up at our ground as if its their cup final, a huge show of respect to what we’ve created. In my opinion
we have the privilege to play on the best pitch in the league and have the backing of a club who do things the right way. So we end the season in a real good place yet again and have the exact same ambition next season.

A few things to note from this season…
The best defence in West Sussex, nobody conceded fewer than us in all leagues.
A 16 year old leading us in attack with 29 goals in competitive games and a hatful in pre season.
4 under 18’s coming through and becoming real pivotal members of our side.
Finishing the season at home in front of over 150 people was a massive compliment to the boys and was very much appreciated!

A big thank you to and for their sponsorship this year and the club for helping us throughout the season, we couldn’t of done it without you guys

Thanks again, and we go again 💙⚽️

A chance to remember Dick Smith!

An exhibition match will take place tomorrow at The Seal Bay Stadium to commemorate Dick Smith again, a figure involved with both Hunston and ourselves.

The team will be full of Selsey players from the past, including plenty of Morey's and Lee's.... I hope Hunston have their shin pads!

Get down, enjoy the sun and grab a beer or 2 🍺

Boys to Men.

We found ourselves back in a Bareham Trophy Final bringing back great memories of last season, thebonly difference was this lot had just scored 21 in 2 weeks against 3rd and 4th in the league.

In a game of few chances, Alfie Lee made some crucial saves, Leo and Jordan working tirelessly up top, forcing their keeper into a couple of saves.

The boys executed the game plan almost to perfection until the best bit football saw the oppo’s 7 baring down on Alfie and slotting it into the bottom corner in the 93rd minute.

I couldn’t be prouder of the effort the boys put in, and luckily they get another go at them in the league on saturday.

Thank you to everyone who got behind us on Wednesday night it was great to see so many of you there 💙

Kings beat Queens!

Saturday saw us meet a side that were 3 wins AND 0 losses against us, but luckily we are a different animal this year, from back to front we look a very good outfit!

That being said a big topic of interest before the game was don’t let Marcio have time and space to shoot from 30 yards and closer, so we all know how it goes, 1-0 down… Marcio with the goal.

A huge response was required now to avoid another defeat, and we got it through Tommy Stevens weaving through tackles and being brought down in the box. Up stepped our skipper, our leader, to tuck away his 8th of the season.. remember, it could have been his 9th had he not taken out a low flying aircraft the week before.

1-1 at half time, calm and composed, was how we approached the second half. Young Leo Finch latched onto a miraculous through ball from Joe Jefkins after some great work from Mitch closing the keeper down. 2-1 was soon 3 with Finch racing clear and keeping his composure infront if goal yet again.

Thankfully, the game was put to bed when Jordan Stevens headed home a pinpoint corner to make the points safe.

We go into 2 consecutive weeks of cup ties full of confidence and hope of securing a couple of big nights out come the end of the season 💙

Run of the Mill Part II

The boys ventured off to Milland for the 2nd time this season, hoping the conditions were on our side, on arrival sinking into the ground wasn’t ideal but the pitch itself earnt the milland groundsman a lot of credit.

A few changes as per usual, but we knew nothing less than 3 points would do. Sometimes, you need a bit of individual skill.. a bit of luck… or just a Jack Cavell corner flying into the side netting over a stranded keepers head. Luckily, we had all 3.
A goal against a side sitting back was always going to open the game up, with Mitch finding space and feeding Kofi for his first goal back in blue!

2-0 at half time and the coiled spring at the back just had to have a say in matters after their own veteran centre half lost his head and bundled Mitch over in the box, skin stepped up and scored his 3rd of the season at their ground.

Rounding off the scoring for the day was Harry Knight, who did his best Jack Cavell impression in lobbing the keeper when I believe a cross was at the front of his mind, but they all count!

It could/should and would have been more with Skin stepping up to take a second penalty…… video on request for those interested in how that went 💙

Keep an eye out for details of another massive game on saturday at home to Queens Head Raiders.

Wel Wel Welcroft Park Rangers

It was just the 120 mile round trip for the boys this weekend, we knew a little bit about our opponents, striker scores goals, winger scores goals, centre half scores goals, but if we applied ourselves we’d have a real chance of a Cupset.

Luckily, with our veteran and apprentice up top, we are also full of goals, Mitch calmly finding the bottom corner 10 minutes in, and leo sliding one home took us into half time 2-0 and comfortable. An unfortunate bounce in our box left their striker with a tap in and game on… up stepped baby yoda playing right back for them, who proceeded to tell our linesman, at some decibel level what a lovely bloke he was, which in turn saw him sent off, gifting us that spare man which we utilised and punished accordingly. Leo completed consecutive county cup hatricks, and Mitch, capitalising on a defensive error, saw us 5-1 up.

Up stepped their striker to tap in a long throw at the back post, this just angered young Leo, who decided to win the ball high and smash one past the keeper to complete the scoring.

Couldn’t be prouder of the boys, and this cup run is proving to be their just rewards! Our opponents will be decided on the 15th of this month, and we’ll travel in their direction March 1st for a place in the final 💙
