Match Report
We made our way to sunny Renishaw to face the league leaders, after getting pumped the last time we faced them we were hoping to do better this time round.

First half began the same as every other game, after the refs whistle- and from that point on it was pretty much all Renishaw, pumping diagonals and long balls for the most part, and it took a while but it eventually worked in which they scored a thundercunt of a volley, no chance for Hendo. We had a few chances ourselves but nothing came of it, 1-0 half time

Second half and it seems like rinse and repeat, until Owen recreates his favourite actor and long time friend Jackie chan and performs a swift leg kick to their attacker in the box, they got a penalty- Owen got the Heavyweight Championship.. they slotted the penalty 2-0. Now the lads had to find something to get anything from this game, and step up Lou Mac- after some work on the left from Alex, finding Ben on the Right who eventually found Louis.. who as always finds the onion bag 2-1. The pressure was on Renishaw now, and not long after the 1st we found our second, a little scuffle in the middle and no foul given from the ref Louis found the Welshman, Ben Demery. 2-2. It stinks, the boys can smell it, Renishaw are sh****ng their pants, gaffers on the sideline going ballistic.. however they are in luck as we, Byron Tap FC are also a charity, and our goalkeeper has given Renishaw a penalty after wiping their lad out in the box, and again slotted. 3-2 game over.. not quite, we get a last minute free kick and who else do you want taking it other than Louis McAndrew, but he hits it wide and the games done.

Full time 3-2 to the leaders, good luck to Renishaw for the rest of the season

Sundays result was a 3-1 victory to the Tap against Eastwood
, the boys were well up for this one as our top scorer this season jumped from a floating ship to a sinking one

Early doors pressure from the home side but nothing was happening for us, and as always in football, the team under pressure went up the other end and scored a very scrappy goal. 0-1 to Eastwood… after that it was back to us putting pressure on with a plenty of possession and attacks which eventually saw a ball played through into Louis’ feet and he rattled the bottom corner with a tidy finish to level it, half time came not long after and 1-1 was the score.

Second half begins and nothing changes, we are all over them and with some good pressing from the midfield, we nicked the ball and once again the man in form was through and we all know how that porridge tastes. 2-1 Louis McAndrew.
Feel like I’m repeating myself but again the lads kept pushing and pressuring and testing their defence but just couldn’t get another goal for what seemed like ages, however we eventually struck gold from a corner into the danger area and once again it’s that man Louis bagging his third and completing his hatrick; meanwhile our former player hasn’t even had a shot on goal :/

Fair play to Eastwood though, tough game for them especially with 10 men👀 🎣

See you there for a cheeky return 🤨

Full time from Sunday against Hasland saw the Tap win 8-2

Plenty of beer bellies knocking about, but the football was lovely with a new strike partnership between Louis and Robbie was like watching prime Heskey and Owen.. LETHAL

Solid in defence other than a couple of penalties given Haslands way, which they scored both :/

All in all a smashing start to 2026 for the lads, hoping to keep pushing on and climb the table.

No game this weekend, but we will be playing a familiar face when we return 🚨🚨🚨

Full time 1-1

Today the lads faced a tough creswell side, early doors they controlled the game and had a few half chances but we just kept ourselves in the game and but was struggling to create anything, our lads at the back were getting stuck in and neither side really seemed like scoring for the first half. Half time came after not much happening other than their left back getting sin binned. 0-0

Second half starts and we was applying a bit of pressure but nothing coming from it, can’t remember much happening before their goal which came from their number 7 getting down the lane and fizzing a ball into the danger area and the big man was waiting. 1-0 to the away team gave us a bit of a kick up the arse and we started to progress the ball up the pitch and create chances, but it just wasn’t sticking. That was until Lee played the ball out to Spence, he whipped the ball into the box but instead of finding a Byron head it flew in to the top corner, now was it a cross or a shot I’m not sure, the jury’s out 🤨

1-1 with a few minutes to go, we now had the momentum but we just didn’t have the time to find the winner, it was a very good game with a few meaty tackles but we didn’t expect anything less from this fixture.

MOTM- Prince Charming at CB was an absolute wall today

Up that tap💙🖤
