Barlborough Links Golf Club is a 9-hole full length golf course with driving range, 9-hole FootGolf course and carp fishing pond situated just off the M1, Junction 30 at Barlborough. The golf course is open from 8am to 8pm - booking for start times can be made by visiting our website - www.barlboroughlinksgolfclub.co.uk


Driving Range Opening Hours:

Summer (9th May to 1st September
Mon - Thu: 9am to 7:30pm (last baskets 7pm)
Fri/Sat/Sun: 9am to 6:30pm (last baskets 6pm)

Winter (2nd September to 30 April)
Mon/Tue/Thu: 9am to 7pm (last baskets 6:30pm)
Wed: 9am to 7:30pm (last baskets 7pm)
Fri/Sat/Sun: 9am to 6pm (last baskets 5:30pm)


Free coaching night - every Wednesday evening from 6pm to 7:30pm (last baskets 7pm), our Pro's offer free coaching - you simply pay for your basket of golf balls and our coaches will give you hints and tips to improve your golf - FOR FREE! ⛳ The Switch is Back! ⛳

From October, Full Members can choose to temporarily switch their Course Membership to a Driving Range Membership for the winter.

Instead of course-playing rights, you’ll receive:

👉 5-Day Members: 2 × 50-ball baskets each week
👉 7-Day Members: 2 × 75-ball baskets each week

You can make the Switch at any point between October and February – and switch back to your Course Membership whenever you’re ready.

If you don’t switch back sooner, your membership will automatically return to Course Membership at the end of February 2027.

With covered bays and a floodlit range, it’s a great way to keep swinging throughout the winter – whatever the weather! 🌧️🏌️

🌅 Twilight Golf – Just £5 Per Player

The evenings may be starting to draw in, but there’s still time to enjoy some golf after work.

From mid-September, we'll be offering twilight tee times as the nights gradually get darker, giving you time to fit in as many holes as possible before sunset.

Why play twilight golf?

😌 Enjoy a quieter, more peaceful course
🌿 Clear your head and finish the day outdoors

Even if you don’t manage a full round, £5 still offers fantastic value.

🤖 There’s been a little bit of wizardry at Barlborough Links…

We recently welcomed a robotic mower and ball collector to the driving range for a demonstration – and it’s fair to say we fell head-over-heels for it!

The machine can collect around 1,000 golf balls in a single outing, but that’s not its only talent.

By attaching a cutting unit, it can mow at heights ranging from 20mm to 100mm, giving it the potential to help maintain:

⛳ The driving range
🌱 The fairways
🚜 Areas of rough

It won’t create those lovely stripes, but we believe the wider benefits will more than make up for that.

Adding some automation to the team will complement the brilliant work already being done by Gareth, Andy and James. By taking care of some of the repetitive jobs, it will free up more of their time for improvement projects and areas of the course that need a human touch.

Now we just need to decide what to call our new robotic mower and ball collector…

⛳ Weekly Competitions - Update ⛳

Unfortunately, we’re still seeing players enter our weekly competitions and then withdraw after start times have been allocated.

Late withdrawals and no-shows can leave unused tee times that could have been offered to other golfers, costing the club up to £60 for each missed start time.

We’re therefore changing the entry process with immediate effect:

🔵 Entry will close 48 hours before the competition begins, after which tee times will be allocated.

🔵 Once you’ve received a start time, you can withdraw without charge until:

▪️ 8am on Friday for Saturday competitions
▪️ 6pm on Sunday for Monday competitions

At these times, we’ll review the entries, adjust the start times where necessary and release any available slots.

Players who withdraw after these deadlines or fail to attend will be charged £10 for the missed start time. You won’t be able to enter another competition until this has been paid.

We appreciate that plans occasionally change, but this process will help us make tee times available to as many golfers as possible.

⛳ Monthly News in Brief ⛳

Here’s a quick update on what’s been happening behind the scenes at Barlborough Links – and what you may notice around the course over the coming weeks.

🌱 Tackling dry patch

The recent hot spell left us struggling with areas of dry patch, particularly on the 5th green and putting green.

Following advice from our Fine Turf Consultant, Mark, we’ve adjusted our maintenance routine to include much more micro-spiking. You may see a more intensive approach being taken on these two greens over the next week or two as we work to improve their condition.

💧 Improving our irrigation

Our irrigation system also struggled during the prolonged dry weather, so we’ve brought in our Irrigation Specialist, Martin, to begin an ongoing programme of upgrades.

The aim is to provide better coverage across the greens next season, while also bringing a number of tees into the automated watering system.

🍂 Preparing for winter golf

The end of summer also means winter preparations are beginning. Over the next month or two, the team will be busy mole ploughing, trimming hedges, pruning trees and jet-washing the mats.

Next Saturday we'll be teeing off for one of the most special competitions of our year – the Martin Bembridge Memorial Shield. 💙

It's a morning of competitive golf, plenty of friendly rivalry and, most importantly, an opportunity to remember Martin and raise money for Sheffield Wednesday Community Foundation.
