Deal done 🤝

We’re delighted to have signed a new sponsorship agreement to partner with Global Brands, Casa Hotel and Peak Edge Hotel.

The arrangement provides new signage around the course including new first tee boards which will be used for our own major competitions, opens and other significant events during the year.
Global Brands, Casa and Peak Edge have also sponsored our Academy Course, first tee putting green and the black competition course.

A golf day will take place as part of the arrangement with the club providing full support as suppliers travel from across the country to take part.

Club Chair John Begley said: “We’re delighted to partner with Global Brands, Peak Edge and Casa.

“They’re quality brands which align perfectly with our drive to provide the best possible experience for members and visitors at Chesterfield Golf Club.

“We thank them for their support and look forward to working closely together moving forward.”

Matthew Bulcroft, Marketing Director for Global Brands, said: “We’re proud to be partnering with Chesterfield Golf Club, a prestigious local club with a fantastic reputation and a real connection to the community.

“As a Chesterfield-based business with customers and suppliers across the UK, this partnership gives us a brilliant opportunity to showcase the area, host our guests in a great setting and support a club that shares our focus on quality, experience and long-term relationships.

“We’re looking forward to working closely with the club over the next two years and making the most of what is a really exciting partnership."

The new agreement, which will initially run for two years, complements the arrangements which we have with our principal sponsor SMH Group, another high-quality operator in the financial sector.

It has been quite a fortnight for our outstanding junior members who have performed superbly at county level. ⛳️

Eva Myers again became the Derbyshire Ladies Champion, beating Imogen Rafferty in a three-hole play-off after 36 gruelling holes around Chevin.

Eva will now go forward to represent Derbyshire in the Champion of Champions at Woodhall Spa later in the year.

Meanwhile, Calum Scarrott scored a superb 11 under par nett 59 around Chevin and win the Derbyshire Schools' Championships.

What a round - the best of his young life by a long way, and quite a competition to choose to do it. His was the best score by a Year 10 and under and as such qualifies him to represent Derbyshire in the English Schools' Under 15s National Championships at Stoke Rochford. At the same Championships a solid 74 from Junior Captain Charlie Burnham saw him qualify for the Midland Schools' at Stratford Park over half term.

Finally at the Derbyshire Junior Spring Meeting, which we hosted on Bank Holiday Monday, Benjamin Wharton scored a superb 73 to win the best gross and Oliver Sinclair scored a nett 65 to finish second nett. Ben goes forward to the Derbyshire Junior Matchplay Championships as one of the top eight gross, where Charlie and Elliott Clark will join him due to their high finishes too.

Well played Team CGC. Well played indeed. 👏

Charity was a definite winner during the year in office of our husband-and-wife Captains Neil and Jill Elks.

The couple nominated Cancer Research UK as the beneficiary during 2025-26 when they fulfilled the roles of Club Captain and Captain of the Ladies’ Section.

The cause is one which is close to their hearts after Jill overcame cancer following treatment a few years ago.

And club members were very generous in the support of a host of fund-raisers staged during their year in office, to raise £9,659.98.

The total was topped up following a sponsored swim by fellow golf club member and immediate Past Ladies’ Captain, Carol Dunphy, which netted a further £758.75.

It meant the total presented to representatives of Cancer Research UK was an impressive £10,418.73. 👏

Congratulations to our incoming Captains for 2026 who began their time in post with the traditional drive-in event.

Club Captain Alan Tayor, Ladies Section Captain Gina Taylor, Junior Captain Charlie Burnham and Senior Section Captain Tim Roberts hit ceremonial drives to launch their years in post in front of a large crowd.

They took over from 2025 Captains Neil Elks, Jill Elks, Olivia Barker-Sabido and Norman Shaw who drove out their year.

The event was followed by a shotgun start scramble event and a packed clubhouse gathering.

We wish all of our Captains a fabulous year in post.

Do you fancy giving golf a go but have always been too nervous to do so?

There’s no need. Our Ladies into Golf sessions are the perfect way to dip a first toe in the game, with group coaching alongside other beginners.

It has proven a pathway for a wave of new lady members since we began the programme around eight years ago.

There’s very little cost and no on-going obligation. If you decide golf isn’t for you, you give back the clubs and walk away… but we think there’s a good chance you’ll love it ⛳😀

The pressure of tying a tie in front of a packed clubhouse is very real…. 😥

Our incoming Captain Alan Taylor displayed commendable dexterity to secure his first knot as skipper without the aid of a mirror. 👏

It was the pre-cursor to an acceptance speech packed with pride and emotion as Alan took over from out-going Captain Neil Elks ahead of our 2026-27 season.

And, for the second year running, our Captain and Ladies’ Section Captains will be a husband-and-wife team after Alan and wife Gina took over from Neil and Jill.

There were lovely words from Bill Preston, a past Captain and member of over 40 years, as he took over as President from David Cromwell.

And Nigel King spoke of his pride as he became Vice-Captain for 2026/27 and Captain for 2027/28.

We’re a club which is constantly working to improve and modernise whilst, at the same time, remain very proud of the heritage and tradition built during our 129-year existence.

Congratulations to those who stepped into honorary positions with the support of the club’s members last night. Here’s to a great year ahead. ⛳️

Black runs gave way to bar runs when ski season took over our clubhouse… ⛷️🎿

Our Captains Neil and Jill Elks have had a fabulous year and they closed out their series of social events with a brilliant Apres Ski Party.

Aperol and Gluhwein flowed during an outdoor drinks reception to launch proceedings and this was followed by the indoor celebrations – including a Bavarian inspired meal and live music.

For absolute authenticity we even had a ‘Shotski’ bar where several friends were able to sample drinks together.

The Big Man came to see us! 🎅
Santa dropped in to meet youngsters and deliver a few early gifts during our Children’s Christmas Party.
The fun-filled Sunday afternoon also included face painting, party games, and a disco with children and their families dancing away to a selection of festive and party favourites.
It capped a weekend filled with festive frivolity, which was kicked off by a Friday evening Carol Concert featuring music from Ireland Colliery Chesterfield Brass Band and included a number of Christmas themed golf competitions. 🎄
