Funny what how you can change things when you string a few good days together.
Kicked myself up the backside after the first week or so of lockdown being a teenager again and having days of achieving absolutely zero.

This week so far

Handed in a mini essay and given 2 uni presentation assessments.
Just got in the final straights of the dissertation.
Had a total deload from training (4 days rest)
Started a mini cut (yes I don't endorse a deficit during this time but do as I say not as I do, I interact with humans once a week so I am very low risk 😂)
Cleaned the house (long over due)
Sorted a few things for a very big change in life come the end of the month 👀👀👀👀
Started going to bed before 1AM again (sue me).

OK I'm still not earning any money but what can you do eh.
Didn't go on my walkies all week, cba with rain.
Spoke to 2 humans all week 😂

It ain't much but its honest work. Does make you feel much better though. But it's through ownership of your own stuff, not by reading a self help book or listening to some guru.
Think more Dr. Jordan Peterson's 'get your own s**t in order' and less 'I'm realigning with the universe and my energy' bulls**t and you won't be far off.

This was probably my 'favourite' look last year. Very lean but not stage lean, fairly full and still looked a bit like I lifted.
Pumps were sensational, training was OK and I didn't feel like utter arse all day everyday. Just before the real digging began.
#
In an ideal world maybe a slightly less shredded than this would be how I'd love to look and maintain all year round. It was still hard at this stage and no off track eating but it would be nice.
To be reak though, this is a hard thing to maintain and still have some sort of a life so a balance must be reached.

Despite them feeling money and being at lifetime best strength levels, I'm dropping Rack Pulls for a bit to see if it helps my recovery for Deadlifts and Squats.

As I've progressed strength my lower back fatigue has been much more noticeable on recent leg sessions. I want to maximise those lifts so I'm happy to drop this movement for now.
#
So subbing in weighted Back Extensions for my second Pull workout. First time today so took 90kg for 7,8 first exercise in.
Took my time working weight up until the load felt right for my desired rep range.
#
Going with a wide grip, not quite Sn**ch width, squeeze the Lats by externally rotating the Shoulder and lead with the Upper Back on the movement.
#
These felt very very good, obviously slightly more taxing being a novel stimulus but the Mid Back pump was absolutely superb and the Hams got a bit of a working too.
#
Let's see how these go.

If you want a peachy bum and a good set of Hams (ladies this one's for you) and you're NOT doing RDL's then stop crab walking round the gym, stop jumping on the pull up machine and get a heavy weight in your hands and just let it hang.

155kg here and I am going for a 200kg strict RDL in the next 12 months.

30kg added to my top set squats in 4 months. First time these have felt anywhere OK since prep ended.

Now I'm legitimately fat it's probably helping having a lot of cushion under the bar.

I used to love squats in my last off season, very indifferent to them now. Funny how feelings can just change like the wind.....

Always had a very weak squat (and everything else) but I intend to get 4 plates up and owned before I even consider ever prepping again.

Training is the only thing thats 'going' right now.

Very surprised tbh seeing as sleep, appetite, stress, focus, mood and recovery is absolutely all over the place. I had an extremely consistent 5 months outside the gym post show.
I NAILED every variable and saw a lot of progress from this. Made me excited to see what 2 years of that could do for me.
#
The last 4 weeks has been anything but consistent.
Still grateful to train as it is my only outlet and many many others can't even do that so it isn't taken for granted.
#
Still searching for any sort of sense of it all.
Until then I'll just pick up metal objects in an orderly fashion.
