How's the January New Year's Resolutions gone?
January's always a difficult time. You start the year with all this determination and excitement to change for the better, and you wake up January 1st tired, hungover, and with this added pressure to overhaul your life and completely change your behaviors.
Add in to the mix the crap weather, dark nights, going back to work, kids going back to school, drawn out paychecks and January is an all round miserable month (I know for a fact, I've put nothing on social media for a reason!)
So you might find you're feeling a bit flat with how this year's started, with how your fitness goals have progressed, with struggling to stick to being a 'healthier' person.
And that's natural, but the important thing is not to give up on the year because of a tricky first month.
The pressure to change everything in January stems from this all or nothing mindset we often get sold by the fitness industry, but the reality is you can make fantastic changes to your health and fitness without having to change your entire life - small tweaks to habits, increasing movement and clever changes to your diet compound over time to create brilliant results.
The goal is to create a lifestyle that allows to you feel your best, keeps you active, eating in a way that leads to your goals without sacrificing everything that makes life worth living. The goal is not to reach a goal weight as quickly as possible.
So if you've fallen off the fitness horse, as many have this year, take a second to consider why, and consider what you need to get back on track with things (the answer is very rarely "I just need to be more disciplined")
And if you need some help making it happen, get in touch today!
