Hi everyone,

Over the weekend England Hockey were given permission for hockey to move to Stage 4 of the Return To Play process. This means the resumption of local matches and closer contact training.

Before this can happen however there are several new rules that all players, coaches, umpires and spectators must follow. The club must also put in place a new risk assessment and comply with new policies from England Hockey.

A Covid sub committee have been working very hard since Friday to implement these new measures, we aren’t quite there yet but are making excellent progress.

Players and parents should have received a link to an online registration form, this must be completed before returning to play. No form, no hockey! Please check your WhatsApp groups.

At the moment we are still training at a social distance in groups of 6 but once all the new procedures are in place we’ll let you know.

In the meantime, familiarise yourself with the rules as laid out in the attached poster. England Hockey have also produced an excellent video too – please watch.

If we all stick to the rules it gives us a great chance of starting the league season as ‘normal’.

We have also appointed a new Covid Officer, Charlie Calderbank. If Officer Charlie asks you to do something, please do it! 👮‍♀️

Fingers crossed we’ll have some good news this week but we won’t move to Stage 4 until we are ready. 🤞🤞🤞

Many within our Club knew Jon well and will have happy memories of a proud Dad, regularly on the sidelines supporting both Maisie and her brother Oliver as they came through the junior ranks of CHC with Maisie coming into the ladies 2s and more recently the first team. It wasn’t just Maisie who benefited from Jon’s playing experience and knowledge , he supported the whole team with words of encouragement and motivation; a true Club man.

Jon was an absolute gentleman, kindhearted, generous with a great sense of humour, an all round good guy who will be greatly missed.

To Catherine, Maisie and Oliver we send our love and deepest condolences and want you to know you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Chesterfield HC 1st team Coach and Midlands Performance Centre Coach, Christian Battye will today take charge of our 1st X1 as we welcome Loughborough Town to St. Mary’s. We’re thrilled to have Christian’s involvement as we continue to promote the development of our players, Club and women’s hockey across the Chesterfield region.

A late, away 4pm fixture on Saturday 18th January 2020 saw Staveley 2s travel to Wirksworth to play Matlock 4s.
