⚽️ Bolsover Town Reds - U 13’s 🔴
It was the first game of the season for Bolsover U13 Reds who had a huge squad overhaul over the summer break with all new signings in action on Saturday morning. Our opposition for Saturday’s game was Barlborough Spartans, the first time meeting this team. Much of the first half was played in the middle of the park, with little action in front of either goal. Theo midfield, consisting of Archie, Tom, Edward and Theo, were very busy covering a range of duties, offensive and defensive. Edward did come close part way through the first half after his shot was blocked on the line which was Bolsover’s clearest chance of the half. Late on in the second half Barlborough managed to create some chance of their own and took a 2-0 lead going into half time. At half time, the boys recognised where they needed to improve and they did just that in the second half! Much of the second half was played in opposition half with Jai coming close on a couple of occasions. Half way through the second half, Theo grabbed a goal back,to half the deficit, after a shot from a very wide position. Minutes later, Eddie equalised the score with a shot from just inside the penalty area. Bolsover saw an opportunity to to get another and the intensity increased another level which finally paid off when Jack chased down a back pass, tackled the keeper to tap the ball into the back of the net in the final minute. A fantastic second half performance saw Bolsover comeback from 2-0 down at half time, to take back 3 points with a 3-2.
Player of the match went to Kallum for his experience in defence helping new players settle in, as well as his tenacious tackling and willingness to play the ball forwards into space. Special mentions went to Bartosz for his presence in defence and midfield winning the ball back endlessly, and a special mention to Jack for taking on board feedback at half time and completely changing his game in the second half.
Well done and welcome to our new signings this season who made their league debut for Bolsover - Eddie, Bartosz, Jack, Goodness & Leo. And finally, a welcome return to Will who rejoins us, after a couple of years away from Bolsover.
