💙 PROGRESSIVE SPORTS - END OF AN ERA 💙

After 7 incredible years, I have made the very difficult decision to sadly bring Progressive Sports to an end.

This is something I have thought about long and hard. It hasn’t been an easy decision, and if I’m completely honest, writing this post makes it all feel very real.

But sometimes you reach a point where you have to make a decision that is right for you, your family and your future.

I have recently taken up a new full-time PE teaching post at a local high school, and after years of giving up so much of my school holidays to run camps, I’ve realised that I need that time to rest, recharge and, most importantly, spend more quality time with my children and family. ❤️

Looking back, I genuinely struggle to believe how far Progressive Sports has come.

We started with camps in Penyffordd, with barely double figures attending. From those small beginnings, we grew and grew, eventually reaching the heyday of our Clywedog Camps, where we were welcoming up to 100 children, and then this summer we had a sell out camp at Bryn Coch.

What started as an idea turned into something so much bigger than I could ever have imagined.

Over the last 7 years, hundreds and hundreds of children have walked through our doors at our Camps and Soccer Schools. Plus all the hundreds of children we have worked with over the various Primary Schools we have worked in.

Children who came along not knowing anyone and left having made new friends.

Children who discovered sports they had never tried before.

Children who developed new skills, gained confidence, competed in tournaments, won trophies, got active, laughed, played and, hopefully, created memories that they will carry with them for years to come.

And that is what I will miss the most. ❤️

The business has taken me on one hell of a journey.

I’ve somehow managed to run it through a global pandemic, a broken leg, welcomed two gorgeous children into the world, and dealt with all the highs and lows that come with running your own business.

Thankfully, there have been far more highs than lows. 😁

One of the biggest highlights was undoubtedly winning Franchise of the Year in 2022 🏆 — something I was incredibly proud of and will never forget.

We’ve also had the privilege of working in so many fantastic schools across Flintshire, Wrexham and the Wirral, delivering PE lessons, after-school clubs, wraparound care, enrichment days, Year 6 reward days and, of course, our holiday camps.

And then there are the people.

Over the years, I have employed more than 70 members of staff.

Some were with us for a short time, while others became a huge part of the Progressive Sports journey and stayed for years.

To every member of staff, past and present — thank you.🙌👏

Thank you for your hard work, your energy, your enthusiasm and for helping create the environment that made Progressive Sports what it became.

I genuinely couldn’t have done it without you. 💙

To every parent who booked their children onto our camps, recommended us to friends, supported us, gave us feedback and trusted us with your children — thank you.

Your support allowed me to turn something that started small into something I could be genuinely proud of.

And to all of the children who have attended our camps over the years…

Thank you.

You have been the heart of Progressive Sports.

The smiles, the laughter, the celebrations, the competitions, the friendships, the goals, the trophies, the arguments over who won 😂, the excitement when you arrived at camp each morning — those are the memories I will take away with me.

I hope that, in some small way, Progressive Sports has made a difference to your childhood.

I hope you’ve had fun.

I hope you’ve made friends.

And I hope when you look back on your time at our camps, you remember it as a happy place where you had a great time. ❤️

I’m also hoping that this may not be the absolute end of Progressive Sports.

I would love to find someone who can take over the business and continue running the camps, allowing the Progressive Sports name and everything we have built to continue.

So… watch this space. 👀

But for me personally, this is the end of a very special chapter.

When I think back to those first camps in Penyffordd with just a handful of children, and compare that to where we finished — with hugely successful camps, hundreds of children attending over the years and so many fantastic memories — I honestly feel incredibly proud.

Progressive Sports was never just a business to me.

It became a huge part of my life.

For 7 years, it was something I poured my time, energy and passion into.

It gave me opportunities I never expected, introduced me to so many amazing people, allowed me to work with hundreds of children and gave me memories that I will never forget.

So although I know it is the right time to move on, it is still incredibly sad to say goodbye.

There will always be a part of me that finds it difficult to walk away from something I have built from the ground up.

But I leave with nothing but gratitude.

Grateful for every child who attended.

Grateful for every parent who supported us.

Grateful for every member of staff who worked alongside me.

Grateful for every school that gave us an opportunity.

Grateful for every friendship, every laugh, every challenge, every achievement and every memory.

And most of all, grateful that I got the opportunity to spend the last 7 years doing something I genuinely loved.

7 years.
Hundreds of children.
70+ members of staff.
Countless camps.
Thousands of memories.
One incredible journey.

It really is the end of an era. 💙

To everyone who has been part of the Progressive Sports story in any way…

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I will always look back on these 7 years with enormous pride and affection.

Now it’s time for a new chapter, more time with my family, and a chance to focus on my other passion — teaching PE and helping the next generation of children enjoy sport.

But I will never forget where it all started.

Progressive Sports — thank you for everything.

It’s been an absolute privilege.

It’s been emotional.

It’s been exhausting at times.

It’s been bloody brilliant.

And I wouldn’t change it for the world. 💙

Thank you.
Goodbye.
And goodbye to an incredible era of Progressive Sports.

💙⚽️🏆 What a journey it has been. 🏆⚽️💙
