Exciting news!

The new intake of footballers for my Lean Move Perform program is this week.
⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’m looking for TEN footballers who want get stronger, look leaner and reach their peak performance.
⠀⠀⠀⠀
After hearing from guys for months on end about how they struggle to get fitter and perform on the pitch...
⠀⠀⠀⠀
How injuries are affecting their performance week in, week out.
⠀⠀⠀⠀
And how they’re still stuck in a plateau, despite going to the gym each week, running every day and even cutting carbs out of their diet to get leaner.

I realised I needed to put together something that helped with all of that, and more.

This is a 4-week online fitness program designed solely for footballers.

Football Is Back.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here’s 3 simple ways to approach the return.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So you can feel fitter and reduce the chance of injuries.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1) Slow and Steady Wins the Race
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you’ve spent the last 4 months working from home and done nothing more than a 5km, don’t spend the next week trying to play catch up.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Yes do your runs and strength work.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But build it up gradually.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Big changes in training loads can lead to injuries.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And after 4 months off, you don’t want to spend the next 2 months watching your team mates play.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Take it slow and build up your sessions over the next few weeks.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2)Drop the 10km.

There’s nothing wrong with doing 5/10kms if you enjoy them.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But we’re getting closer to matches and training now.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Straight line steady runs aren’t going to prepare your body and joints for changing direction, accelerating and sprinting.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Start to slowly build more specific training and running back into your week.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3)Take A Break.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
On the other side of it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you’ve been training 5 x per week throughout lockdown.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Smashing half marathons.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And are beginning to feel drained.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Have a BREAK.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You don’t want to enter pre season feeling shattered.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You should feel refreshed and ready to go.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Treat yourself to a deload week.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Reduce the amount you’re doing.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And let your body recover.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You’ll feel better both mentally and physically.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And you’ll fitter for it in the long run.

‘I Can Ride On The Nemesis With My Nan’

‘But I Can’t Go The Gym?’

So it’s looking like a few more weeks without the gym…
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And I’ve heard a lot people complaining.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
'How can they open pubs but not gyms?’

For a lot of people the gym is their release.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Where they socialise.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And their hobby.

But the gym alone shouldn’t dictate your results.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s one piece of the puzzle.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If I handed my clients a training program and just said crack on.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’d take a guess that the majority wouldn’t get the results they want.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Instead, it’s the stuff we do away from the gym.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The weekly phone calls to keep them accountable.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The strategies we put in place so they don’t have worry about having a beer on the weekend.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And instead stressing over what we can’t train.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We focus on the thing we can control.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And the areas we can improve without a gym.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you’re stuck for ideas, here’s a few areas you can focus on without a gym:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1 Getting leaner.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
No weights required.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you’re the type of person who last season felt like their shirt was little too tight or felt sluggish on the pitch then focus on this dropping some body fat.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2 Get Faster.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Want to get faster? Practise sprinting.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Work on this around 3 x per week and give yourself enough rest between each sprint.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Mix up the distances.

3 Increase your stamina
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you struggled towards to the end of games or struggle to recover after a short sprint.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Then spend these next few week building up your stamina.

Mix up your week with some long distance steady runs and shorter interval sessions.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Dylan Didn’t Want To Be That Footballer…

That talented player…
⠀⠀
But the one who didn’t reach his potential.
⠀⠀
‘𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘺 𝘢𝘵 𝘢 𝘩𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘭𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘭’
⠀⠀
People would say to him.
⠀⠀
And he knows he could one day.
⠀⠀
But there was problem…

He didn’t know how to make that next step up…
⠀⠀
In the past, he would be that guy that chops and changes from one method to the next.
⠀⠀
And would never see any results on or off the pitch.
⠀⠀
He’d rely on games and training for fitness but this wouldn’t allow him to get ahead of the others.
⠀⠀
He’d smash out tedious 'HIIT’ sessions at home.
⠀⠀
But these would leave him feeling drained and sore.
⠀⠀
And he’d run for miles each week, but didn’t know if this would actually help on the pitch.
⠀⠀
Dylan was working hard, but not seeing the results.
⠀⠀
He was fed up.

And that’s when he decided to reach out to me.

Understandably, he was sceptical about online training at first.

He wasn’t sure if it would deliver where other trainers and programs had failed.
⠀⠀
But Dylan had a decision to make.
⠀⠀
Carry on feeling frustrated.
⠀⠀
And be in the same spot in 12 months time.
⠀⠀
Or he could take action and look for support…
⠀⠀
Thankfully he made the smart choice.
⠀⠀
And he decided to join the 4 week LMP Program.

When Dylan started, we completed some quick fitness test to see where his strengths and weaknesses were.
⠀⠀
We set out specific pitch based runs to help improve his speed and recovery times.
⠀⠀
And instead of being handed a bland meal plan and told to crack on.
⠀⠀
We worked on building new habits each week which meant he could drop body fat without counting calories every day.
⠀⠀
Since working together Dylan has dropped 9lbs.
⠀⠀
He now leaner and faster.
⠀⠀⠀⠀
He’s broken all his original fitness testing results.
⠀⠀
And he’s even managed to complete his first ever half marathon along the way.
⠀⠀
He’s now able go into next season in the best condition of his life.
⠀⠀
Ready to have his best season yet.
⠀⠀

Testing 🏃🏻‍♂️⚽️
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A big problem I see with footballers is not knowing where they’re at or what they need to work on.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
They’ll go on runs.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Train each week.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But never actually know if they’re getting fitter.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A big part of my online coaching is testing.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And it’s something I do with all my clients.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
They can see where they at.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Where they’re strong.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And what needs improving.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It takes the guess work out.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And we can then set up training to suit.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The 1km time trial is one test we use.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The 30:15 test is the gold standard.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But this is a good alternative.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And a simple way to measure your aerobic fitness for football.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The test.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Mark out 100m (usually length of a pitch).
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And complete 10 x 100m max effort.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Record your total time.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You can then put together specific runs based off your time.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And retest at a later date to see if you’re improving or not.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
