Don’t underestimate the power of running with people!
The triathletes among us are often used to knuckling down and training solo. After all we swim solo, can’t draft on the bike and then wind up out of T2 wherever you are to run it home!
However this is the perfect time of year to maximise squad sessions and not all for performance benefits.
🌙 As the dark nights and bad weather are now upon us it becomes so much easier to train when you have accountability. Knowing a time and a place to get the job done and not wanting to let others down.
💪🏼 For many that go long with winter marathons then the miles can be long and lonely. Consider a lapped course with friends so that you can get your miles in with company but still running at your own pace.
👩🏫 Every day is a learning day. Training with others gives opportunity to listen, watch and learn, share ideas and support each other. Whether it’s a reminder to up your game in mid-run nutrition or a gentle nudge that others around you have better form and how we can improve, then the power of people can help us to better ourselves.
🍺 The benefits of the social. Whether it be the post run selfies, the pub grub or the beers afterwards then don’t underestimate the boost to mental health and well-being that comes from social interaction and laughter!
After all we do this for the love of it right!? 💖💙
