Good fight from M2 đŸ”„

The boys headed to Salford on Wednesday for their first Varsity and it was a tough one. After going 0–2 down, they showed real character to bring it back to 2–2 and take it to a fifth set. Didn’t get the result in the end, but a performance to be proud of

With Salford playing their first team, the Varsity point goes to Chester, so not a bad day overall

🚹Rowing vs Volleyball Charity Match🚹

Rowing and Volleyball are hosting a charity match to raise money for The Guide Dogs Charity.

The event will be a match vs volleyball’s second teams and rowing; however, there is a twist, with every donation, rule changes and hindrances to the volleyball team are introduced. For every £1 you donate, you’ll receive a raffle ticket which will be drawn at the end of the match if Rowing wins.
The more money you donate, the more it will help rowing win, increase your chances of winning the grand prize, and support guide dog training.

Between each set, minigames will also be played for the chance to win one of the following prizes: socks, alcohol/or a chocolate bundle.

There will be a ÂŁ3 entry fee which enters you into the mini games.

đŸ’· Donations: All donations can be paid online via the QR/link or in cash on the day

Rule Changes:
🍜 Noodle Arm = Volleyball hit with their opposite arm (£3)
✋ One-hand Wonder = Volleyball is only allowed to play with one hand/arm (£3)
👯 Double Trouble = If rowing wins the point, they get 2 points (£3)
💰 Serve Tax = The donor gets to serve for volleyball twice (£5)
🙏 Hail Mary Serve = Volleyball player serving has to try a difficult serve (£3)
🌳 Stuck in the Mud = Volleyball can’t jump (£3)
đŸŸ„ The Quad Touch = Rowing are allowed 4 touches instead of 3 (ÂŁ3)
đŸ„ˆ Second Stroke = Rowing gets a second chance to serve (ÂŁ1)
❓ Random Hindrance = A wheel is spun to decide which rule change will be applied (£1)

What a season it’s been! To round off an incredible year in BUCS, our mens 1 are also officially champions đŸ†đŸ”„

A huge congratulations to every single player who made this achievement possible this success is a true reflection of the hard work, dedication, and team spirit shown all year.

Special recognition goes to our captain, who led from the front and finished as the top MVP in the country, earning an outstanding 9 MVP awards this season 👏 An unbelievable achievement and fully deserved!

They’ve officially won their BUCS division, and we couldn’t be prouder of every single one of them
Message from our captain Shannon "Being part of this team for the last three years, and captaining it for the past two, has honestly meant so much to me. When I first joined, the team hadn’t won a game in four years, but the girls still showed up every week with so much determination and heart. In my second year we finally started getting a few wins, and now in my last year we’ve been promoted to Division 2, which feels incredible and something I’m so proud of us for. I couldn’t be prouder of this group of girls and everything we’ve achieved together. It’s really sad to be leaving a team that’s been such a big part of my uni life, but Ill always be grateful for the memories and friendships that came from it. And a massive thank you to our coach, Mac, for all the time, support and belief he’s given us along the way!”
Message from our coach Mac "This has been such a long time coming, and it means so much to finally see this team thrive and achieve the success they’ve always deserved. The journey over the past three years has been anything but easy. There were challenges, setbacks, moments of doubt, and times when things didn’t go the way we had hoped. But through all of it, one thing never changed the determination, the hard work, and the belief that if we kept pushing forward, our time would eventually come.Every single person involved showed resilience, commitment, and an incredible level of passion. No one gave up, even when it would have been easier to. Instead, everyone kept showing up, supporting each other, learning from every obstacle, and growing stronger as a team. That perseverance is what makes this moment and this team even more special. Now, seeing everything come together and watching this team finally earn the recognition and success they’ve worked so hard for is honestly an amazing feeling. It’s a reminder that dedication and belief truly pay off in the end. I couldn’t be prouder of everyone involved ,this achievement is completely deserved, and it’s only the beginning of even greater things to come”
