🔵⚪️ Two wins from two got our U14s 🔵⚪️

Chester Under-14s made it two wins from two to start the season with a hard-fought victory in what was a strange and, at times, chaotic game.

Chester didn’t start particularly well and had to weather a lot of pressure in the first half, but somehow found themselves 1-0 up. They then settled into the game, got more of a handle on things and quickly doubled their lead in the second half.

It was a scrappy, niggly game, with plenty of physicality and emotion involved. Our keeper had to go off after taking two kicks to the head in the first half, a big thank you to Finn for stepping in between the sticks. We’re fortunate to have two reserve keepers in the squad, and with the team 2-0 up, Dan’s defensive qualities were needed more than Finn’s goals!

The opposition managed to drag themselves back into the game after a contentious 1st before deservedly getting themselves level at 2-2.

The disappointing thing for Chester was allowing themselves to get caught up in the chaos, lose concentration and start playing the oppositions game rather than ours own.

That’s something the lads will need to learn from. When teams try to drag us down to their level, we have to stay calm, keep playing our football and use their emotions against them rather than getting caught up in them ourselves.

The response after the equaliser was excellent. The lads dug deep, battled for every ball and showed a fantastic winning mentality to go on and secure the victory.

It’s the second week in a row the lads have shown the character to win a game that perhaps 12 months ago they may have drawn or even lost. That mentality will be vital in what promises to be a very tough season with no easy games.

It will certainly be a tough place for teams to come this season, and the lads deserve credit for digging deep and taking all three points.

🏆 MOTM: Dan — just shades it over Connor after a big performance at the back, leading the defence, putting in some important blocks and tackles and providing an assist for the all-important third goal.

Our Chester le Street Town RS7 girls had a chance to put last weeks defeat to bed today against really strong opposition and the girls did not disappoint. As coach’s we are so excited about this new crop of players. Some of the football today was up there with the best we have seen from a group of girls in a while. The backline and Goalkeeper were brilliant, the Midfield was super composed playing quick through the lines and recognising when to stick or twist, probably one of our best midfield displays in a long time. Our attacking options from outwide and through the middle was frightening. The game certainly wasn’t one sided though as our opposition played some lovely football but just couldn’t break us down in the final third.

Some big performances out their today, really tough to pick a Coach’s player of the match today but Amelia Eglon put in one of the best first half perforce I’ve seen in a long time bagging herself a first half hatrick.

CLS U7 Robins played for the first time in their new kit, our slot kicked off with one team missing so games were 2v2 with end to end action. Games were fast paced with the team experiencing big wins (8-2) and big losses (0-6) but it was great to see them still going for it and not letting conceding bring them down. Everyone scored at least one goal, Tigerlily was especially quick on attacking back after conceding and scoring. Ollie was a brilliant team mate, dictating play with great passing, Elijah matched the physicality of the other teams and scored plenty but Luca was the star of the show scoring double figures and running back to defend throughout.

Clst under 10 youth tigers

A game where we should of at least walked away with a draw never mind a win.

Boys battled against the wind first half and done really well a little under the coach at the start but started to find the rhythm we conceded about 15 in with a great strike from the opposition… after that we stepped it up Frankie driving us forward with some great work on the wing and let fly even I wouldn’t of wanted to get my hand behind that.
1-1 Sammy at the back as per finding his feet yet again been fantastic in that position suits him well. Matthew also winning the ball and driving us forward We just switched of a little to concede another but we knew second half was gonna be all us… again from back to front the boys kept plucking away. Jack Harry h Rory Frankie getting into some great positions Caleb with some chances we just again couldn’t find the net. We through everything at it Harry w with some great covering runs and getting stuck in Harry in goal fantastic again.

Player of the match today went to Sammy absolute bully at the back parents player going to Jack for his efforts

We go again starting to find some confidence as a team and played some fantastic passes into one another.

Chester Town U11 Girls

Following a convincing win in their opening game of the season last week, Chester Town U11 girls were back at Kepier today for a lunchtime kick-off.

We had a full squad available, with the exception of Holly, who was otherwise engaged on Great North Run duties. Olivia S started in goal, with Rose and Sapph forming the defensive partnership. Olivia M, Luna and Abigail lined up across the midfield, with Mia leading the line.

Chester started brightly and had the better of the early play, with an opening goal arriving through the middle courtesy of Luna. It wasn’t long before a second followed, with Mia adding to the scoreline.

The opposition continued to probe, but Rose and Sapph were in no mood to give them much encouragement, sweeping up anything that came their way before calmly building from the back and finding our midfielders’ feet.

And if you’re looking for a set of substitutes to bring on, Emelia, Rebecca, Marnie and Brooklyn aren’t a bad group to have waiting on the sidelines! They all came on and helped Chester maintain control and stability as we headed towards half time.

There wasn’t too much for the coaches to discuss at the break. The message was simple: stay switched on, compete for the first ball, and make sure we won the second ball too.

Chester continued where they left off after the restart, with Brooklyn putting the girls further ahead in the early stages of the second half. Luna then added her second of the afternoon to put Chester out of sight.

The opposition added an extra player, which evened the game up a little. They began committing three or four players forward in attack and managed to get themselves on the scoresheet after one of their players got beyond our back line and finished well.

At the other end, Emelia nearly restored the advantage. Through one-on-one with the keeper, she did everything right — slowing herself down, opening her body up and attempting to place the ball beyond the goalkeeper. Their keeper had to produce an excellent save to deny her.

The girls continued to press forward though, and it wasn't long before Captain Rebecca then got herself on the scoresheet with another excellent finish to put the game beyond doubt.

A late consolation for the opposition couldn’t take anything away from another excellent Chester performance.

Two games, plenty of goals and a team that continues to develop with every game. The girls played good football, worked hard, competed for everything and dealt well with the opposition.

On this showing, there certainly shouldn’t be too much for Chester to fear as they step up into the higher league this season. Plenty of hard work still to come, but this group of girls are looking like they’re going to be more than ready for the challenge.

U11 Centurions had their first game of the season this morning against an always strong Belmont side who we haven’t played in over a year when we were last in Division 5.

It took the boys a little while to get used to both playing a game again but also the immediate realisation that the opposition is going to be tougher every week.

We’ve been working on a few formation changes that we started at the back end of last season to accommodate the players preferred or natural positions and it worked really well and I’m going to stick with as it always gives us the flexibility to revert at half time when we change goalkeepers (we’re blessed in having two good ones that are also great outfield players).

We went 1-0 down in the first half but the chances started coming after the break and we got an equaliser and the game ended with a hard fought, very evenly contested 1-1.

U16 Sapphires started thier league campaign with defeat today. We started really strong, going 1-0 up within the first 5 mins with a well worked goal from Jas.

The opposition equalised and then went in front, before Isla netted to bring the sapphires level. Whickham scored once more before the break to see them go in 3-2 in front.

A barrage of shots from the sapphires at the start of the second half couldn’t see us get a goal and the opposition once again went down and scored to make it 4-2.

Both sides had good chances and Hannah netted her second to make it 4-3- we just couldn’t get that last chance or two to either draw or win.

A fairly dominant performance on the whole with plenty of chances for the sapphires, however we didn’t come away with anything.

We’ll take the positives and move onto next week.

U9 Girls

Out girls played out a highly entertaining draw today, sharing ten goals with the opposition

Our opponents only had four players to start with so Grace kindly volunteered to help make up their numbers until their other players arrived and put a great performance against her teammates, even managing to grab a goal for them to level the tie part way through the first half. Esme had opened the scoring in our favour, and following the equaliser Lola put us back ahead before Esme grabbed her second from a rebound

At half time we praised the girls for their attitude but reminded them about maintaining concentration going into the start of the second half. That went well…

Four quick fire goals from the opposition saw them race into the lead, but credit to the girls they kept at it and dragged themselves back into the game with a superb strike from Lola on the half volley into the bottom corner, before Kaidence forced her way through the back line before firing home and levelling the game. A combination of some really good saves from Ellia in goal and some excellent last ditch tackles kept us in the game and made sure we came away with a well deserved draw

All in all really pleased with the girls for keeping going despite going behind in the game when on another day the heads would have dropped

⚽️ *Boldon 0–3 Chester Le Street Town*⚽️

Our first away game of the season. The sun was out, but so was the wind! 🌞💨

After last week’s defeat, we asked the girls for a reaction today — and they certainly gave us one. 💙🤍

The girls started a little slowly, but once they worked out what Boldon were like, they soon settled into the game.
In the first half, we created some cracking chances, with our wingers putting some dangerous balls into the box. Cara and Emily really pushed the Boldon defenders back and caused plenty of problems.

We went 1–0 up after a fantastic cross from Cara on the left found Amber in the perfect position, and she finished really well. ⚽️👏

We had a few more chances before half-time, but the Boldon goalkeeper made some excellent saves to keep them in the game.

We spoke to the girls about increasing the intensity, moving the ball quicker and making sure we took our chances when they came.
In the second half, Amber and Emily continued to cause problems from the wings, while our centre midfielders were really strong today. They distributed the ball really well and helped start our attacks.

Amber took another corner and used the wind brilliantly. The ball took a deflection off a Boldon defender and ended up in the back of the net. *2–0 Chester!*⚽️💨

Amelia L came in for her first game of the season and pulled off a fantastic save from a Boldon ball over the top. Her positioning was excellent and she dealt with it really well. 👏🧤

The girls then really started to play some lovely, quick, free-flowing football.

Annie started to really own the central midfield and found herself with a chance to drive towards goal and get a shot away. She took it brilliantly and the ball went in off the post. What a finish and a goal she thoroughly deserved! ⚽️👏

Thought our defence were excellent today and really played as a unit. Their recovery runs were just as strong as their forward play, and they worked really hard together to keep Boldon at bay.

Our two forwards played their part today too. They held the ball up really well and both could have got themselves on the scoresheet. It was great to see them getting into the right positions and creating those opportunities.

There could have been a couple of contenders today, but this week it goes to Amber.
She worked incredibly hard throughout the game and put us in the driving seat with her first-half goal. She kept pushing the defence back, bringing our midfield and strikers into play, and showed some fantastic quick feet and crossing today.

A really positive reaction from the girls today. We know there is still plenty to work on, but the attitude, work rate and football in the second half were really pleasing to see.

The Dragons put on a thrilling performance in a hard fought match that saw incredible teamwork, fantastic individual performances, and boys settling into the team.

The Dragons started strong, with Isaac putting in an excellent performance in goal and keeping the opposition at bay with a series of fantastic saves.

Carter capitalised on that solid foundation, scoring an outstanding FIRST EVER match goal to put the Dragons ahead.

In defence Kaleb was a rock, battling relentlessly to break up opposition attacks. The first half also saw Elliott, playing only his second game since joining this season, looking right at home. He is definitely a Dragon now, settling in brilliantly with the team.

The second half saw a shift in positions as Carter took over the gloves to go into goal.

Freddie, Ruairí, and Zach all played brilliantly, showing great energy and linking up well across the pitch.

Zach's performance was especially brilliant, given that he had already just run his socks off at the Junior Great North Run before turning up to play!

Park View fought back, scoring two quick goals to take the lead.

However, the Dragon's showed great character to bounce back, with Oscar finding the back of the net to level the score.

In a frantic finish, Park View managed to find the net twice more in quick succession to close out the game.

Despite the final scoreline, it was a superb, spirited performance from all the Dragons 💙🤍🐉
