Park View Academy of Sport Women's Academy Expands to Include Rugby League.
Park View Academy of Sport is delighted to announce that its Women's Rugby Academy will now offer opportunities in both rugby union and rugby league, providing student-athletes with an exciting dual-code pathway to enhance their development.

Alongside the existing rugby union programme, the academy will work with sixth forms and colleges across Yorkshire to arrange rugby league fixtures. Students will also compete in the Rugby Football League's festival format, alongside other Yorkshire sixth forms and colleges, giving them regular opportunities to experience the league game.

The academy's rugby union programme will remain unchanged. During periods when there are no union fixtures, players will take part in rugby league festivals or fixtures. This approach allows students to continue playing competitive rugby throughout the season while developing a wider range of skills and experience.

Many of the core skills in rugby union and rugby league are highly transferable, and by participating in both codes, players will broaden their understanding of the game, improve their decision-making, and develop into more complete athletes. The two codes will complement one another, helping students become stronger performers for their club teams while also enhancing their opportunities to progress into the professional game.

The academy is already seeing players progress through the performance pathway, with Ameilia representing York and Kez representing Leeds. The addition of rugby league further strengthens the academy's commitment to supporting talented players as they pursue opportunities in both rugby union and rugby league.

Head of Rugby Rob Jones said:
"Our aim has always been to give our students the very best opportunities to develop as rugby players. Adding rugby league alongside our established union programme allows players to gain valuable experience in both codes, develop transferable skills, and maximise their potential. Whether their ambitions lie in union, league, or both, we're committed to helping them build the best possible pathway."
