đŹđ§2x- Saturdayâs racing gets underway with the womenâs doubles, where 15 crews line up to battle for the British title in one of the strongest fields of the weekend.
Reigning đȘđșEuropean champion Bass AndrĂ© joins forces with GB representative Lara Brittain to head the entry, while Tynemouths McKenna Simpson joins Lucy Freeman to form a formidable combination.
On home waters, Whitby CRCâs Sefi Ormston, last seasonâs Four Nations Womenâs Enduro champion, teams up with Maya Matheson-Smith as they look to challenge for the honours with a strong performance in front of the home crowd.
The Masters Womenâs Double is equally competitive, with coastal rowing stalwarts Andrea Davies and Rachel Palmer leading their respective crews in what promises to be another closely fought contest.
In the menâs doubles, Olympic bronze medallist Matt Wells reunites with former GB teammate Marcus Bateman to form an imposing partnership. They face strong opposition from Jersey Rowing Clubâs Josh Watkins and Gary Briggs, while European silver medallist Edwin van Lopik and James Dutton, racing for Trentham BC, complete an exceptionally competitive field.
đŹđ§Mixed 2x - The ever-popular Mixed Double could produce one of the closest races of the weekend. Jerry Owen and Lara Brittain once again renew their rivalry with reigning đŹđ§British champions Hal Flowerdew and McKenna Simpson in a familiar contest from last season.
However, mounting a serious challenge for the title will be the formidable pairing of Edwin van Lopik and Bass André, ensuring a fiercely contested battle for gold.
In the Under-19 Mixed Double, Whitby CRCâs Harry Morley joins forces with Elyssa Stoker as they look to claim the national title on home waters.
đŹđ§1x - Sundayâs racing begins with the singles, where two outstanding fields promise an exciting start to the second day of competition.
The womenâs coastal single sees 14 athletes take to the water, with reigning đŹđ§British champion Bass AndrĂ© heading a star-studded field that also includes several current Great Britain representatives.
The menâs single is equally impressive, with another 14-boat field featuring long-standing GB international Jerry Owen. He faces stiff competition from European silver medallist Edwin van Lopik, while Jerseyâs Josh Watkins and DiBi RCâs Sebastiano Panteca will also be among the leading contenders in what promises to be a thrilling contest.
Whitbyâs Harry Morley will be aiming for success in the Under-19 category, while in the Masters events Jon Osborne will be looking to retain his British title in the menâs race. In the womenâs Masters Single, Andrea Davies takes on reigning champion Bryony Jones in another battle that looks destined to go right to the line.
đŹđ§4x - The menâs quad once again features Jon Osborne, who teams up with Rouille, Fenemore and Sinclair to form a strong and experienced Barbarians crew.
Providing a major challenge is an experienced Whitby CRC crew featuring Marcus Bateman, Matt Wells and fellow former Olympian Pete Wells, with last seasonâs Four Nations Menâs champion Marc Wilson completing the lineup.
đŹđ§Mixed 4x - The Mixed Quadruple Sculls also promise close racing, with a Tynemouth crew stroked by Hal Flowerdew expected to face a stern challenge from a strong Jersey Rowing Club entry.
Tees Rowing Club will be hoping to claim the Under-19 title, while Coastal Barbarians and Runcorn RC look among the favourites in the Masters Mixed Quad.
đŹđ§4x - The womenâs quads are another highlight of the weekend, with nine crews lining up to contest the British title. The home crew of Nicola Douglass, Julie Morley, Harriet Wardley and Michaela Fulton will be hoping to make the most of local knowledge, while Jersey Rowing Clubâs Laima Pacekajute, Katie Guest, Sarah Earles and Ryanna Clifford are expected to provide a strong challenge.
Perhaps the crew attracting the most attention is the all-star quartet of đ„World Beach Sprint champion Megan Hewison, Alys Phillips, Lara Brittain and Bass AndrĂ©. They will undoubtedly start among the favourites, but in coastal rowing anything can happen once the racing gets underway.
In the Masters Womenâs Quad, Andrea Daviesâ Dolphin RC crew looks particularly strong, although they face stiff opposition from several Coastal Barbarians crews, as well as experienced entries from Olderfleet RC in Ireland and Jersey Rowing Club.
