Heck of a day at the club fun day and presentation for the lads.

Last season we managed to stay in this division by the skin of our teeth, we finished in the relegation zone but after a drop out from the league it meant we could stay.

That was a difficult season and as much as the lads put the graft in, it hard to watch at times. With a couple of lads leaving, it left us a bit of room to recruit over the summer to strengthen, that’s when we welcomed Will, Seb, Alfie, Charlie and Blake to the Greens.

The difficulty of this division didn’t change and we found it just as hard again from the off, 1 win in the first 6. With a couple of lads then leaving for new challenges we welcomed Jacob to the team.

Santa must have been good to the lads though because from this point on their effort, desire and belief started to shoot up, picking up some vital wins and giving some of the big teams a rattle. The lads resilience and consistent hard graft paid dividends as the season went on, reaching a Cup Semi Final only just loosing out 4-3 to one the big teams. And also winning 6 out their last 7 games including 2 huge scalps over 2 big hitters.

This was our best season yet, finishing in 6th place and means they play at the highest level possible for the 3rd season running. We can be canny tough on them at times so all credit to them for the graft they put in on the training pitch and in games and pushing themselves to be better. A tremendous season.

Last game of the season today, aiming for 5 wins on the bounce, against one of the big hitters.

After Thursday’s win we asked for the same approach and attitude. And that’s what the lads produced. Absolutely rampant against one of the big 5.

Charlie switched on from the off dispossessed their defender when playing out from the back, and thumped it home. No messing about. 1-0 early on.

The lads remained on top and soon after Jack lashed one home totally out of the blue from 25 yards. An absolute rocket right in the top corner. 2-0, what a start!

And it got better! Great work and skill from Jacob out wide, beating a few men to pull it back to Will on the edge of the box. Will’s shot save but parried to Charlie who wasn’t playing games. 3-0.

More pressure on their back line lead to a corner drilled in by Charlie, and met with bullet header from Jack, back the way it came, straight in the top right corner. Another outrageous goal from Jack to take him to 20 for the season. 4-0.

Half time. An incredible scoreline for us, but fully expecting the opposition to step it up from the kick off.

And that’s what they did. They piled on the pressure and pulled one back quite quickly when we failed to react to a shot that came off the bar. 4-1.

Fair play to the lads, they scrapped and got themselves back in the game. Charlie involved again winning the ball in midfield and driving forward, finding Jack with an inch perfect through ball who took it on and buried it. 5-1 and a hat-trick.

The game started to go end to end, and they pulled another back, but only for the lads to take control of the game again and score a 6th from the spot after Alfie was brought down. Charlie smashing it home for his hat-trick. 6-2 FT.

An unbelievable score and performance from The Greens to finish the season with 5 wins in a row, including 2 against 2 of the big hitters in the division.

MOM was a no brainer. All of the lads put in another cracking shift, but for a hat-trick each it goes to Jack and Charlie, plus 2 assists for Charlie. Absolutely brilliant. 🙌.

Penultimate game of the season tonight against 2nd top. After a great run of form all we wanted from the lads was plenty of fight and to take pride in their performance.

The lads showed incredible attitudes and desire from the off, not letting the opposition get into any pattern or groove. We had the better chances! Our hard work and determination paid off when Harvey found Charlie on the left wing with a through ball. Charlie’s shot was parried to Alfie who finished it crisply. 1-0

Some rock solid and rugged defending as well as an amazing save from Joey low down to his right kept the score at 1-0 at half time. Saying that, we had a hat full of chances too and it could have been 3 or 4.

2nd half we expected it to get a lot tougher, and it did. But credit to the lads, they faced up to the challenge and stayed on top winning the ball high and not letting the opposition settle. The constant pressure lead to a throw-in for us which Harvey missiled in, Seb flicked it on straight to the back post for Charlie to hook in. 2-0.

The lads carried on the same way and carvied out more chances than them. The balance started to turn in the last 15 minutes as they cranked up the pressure, but the lads defending was resolute. With 5 minutes to go we gave away a penalty, heart in mouths. The lad who stepped to take up could kick a casey 100 yards. He wolloped it but Joey made an UNBELIEVABLE save and even better he kept a hold of it diving to his left.

The pressure still on, they pulled one back in closing stages, and heaped more pressure on. Another fantastic save from Joey kept them out. Final score 2-1 🙌.

MOM was extremely difficult. Every player was tremendous, stuck to their task and battled for the whole hour. Brilliant discipline. Defenders were superb, midfield won the battle and the forwards always dangerous. But for the last 10 minutes Joey was outstanding, and saved us the win (if that makes sense), excellent kicking and controlled the pace of the game when we needed him to. 🙌🙌🙌

3rd win off the bounce today, but only just!

A poor first half from us, we looked like we didn’t fancy it from the first whistle. We did go 1-0 up with good centre forward play from Jacob to race clear on to a through ball from Seb to then round the keeper and smash home after his first shot was saved.

The opposition were the better team in the first half and deserved their goal direct from a free kick just outside the box. 1-1 at half time.

Some strong words at half time because the lads were playing well below the standards they’ve shown in previous weeks.

A brilliant reaction from the lads in the 2nd half. Much higher work rate and a lot more hunger to try and get the win.

Composure from Jack in the box, working an opening for himself and eventually finding the bottom corner from an angle after catching the keeper off guard. 2-1.

Jack was there again to pounce on a misunderstanding between their keeper and defender, getting between them and poking the ball home from 10 yards. 3-1. The lads looking much better.

Loads more chances for the lads after this and the game could have been out of sight with Joey having very little to do in goal.

They did get one more goal to pull it back to 3-2, a bit of a nervous ending but the lads held on for the win.

A game of 2 halves, with the lads showing their character 2nd half to get on top👏. MOM was easy this week. Another flawless shift from Seb who man marked a very good and awkward player, and didn’t let him have a kick. Outstanding 👏.

Back to back wins for the lads after today’s result!

A dominant performance from the first whistle to the last; loads of fight and won their battles all over the pitch.

An early penalty from Alfie helped us settle quickly, and another soon followed for the hitman. Some excellent work from Jacob on the left turning his man inside out a few times before chipping a lovely weighted cross to the back stick for a thunderbolt of a volley from close range. 2-0.

The opposition did have their moments but strong defending from the back 3 plus Joey on good form kept the score at 2-0 at half time.

2nd half was more of the same with the lads well on top. The opposition put some pressure on when they took their chance with a brilliant header into corner. 2-1.

The lads kept on top though and Jack pounced on a loose back pass in midfield. With still a long way to go, he kept a cool head after a darting run in on the keeper and buried it through his legs. 3-1.

3-1 soon became 4-1 with more brilliant creativity from Jacob. More excellent skill and hold play to then square the ball to Albie who neatly finished the move off from just inside the box.

A brilliant volley from a long way out pinned us back to 4-2, but the lads rounded off the game with one more goal to make it 5-2 at full time. Again, Jacob holding on to the ball waiting for the right moment to tee up Charlie who smashed it home through a crowd..

We think Will’s bullet header off the bar and Charlie’s power blaster of a free kick against the post both deserve a mention.

A brilliant team performance and the result fully deserved. MOM today goes to Jacob. Brilliant on the ball and his 3 assists were outstanding. 👏👏👏

Back in action after a 2 week break, and a cracking result for the lads!

The lads started very brightly and were on top for the first 15 minutes. It didn’t take long for the lads to get a goal. A flighted cross from a Charlie corner was met first time by Jack who knocked it in from close range. 1-0.

Another goal soon after put us 2-0 up. Jack again getting our goal, dispossessing their last man from a short goal kick and rolling it past their keeper. The lads looked a class above.

But then we started to relax too much. The opposition getting back into it and could have had a couple of goals themselves. 2-0 at half time.

The 2nd half started at the 1st half ended; a tight game with both teams having chances. They got the first goal of the 2nd half with a neat finish into the bottom bin from a corner.

We needed a positive reaction from the lads and for them to start battling a bit harder to get back on top.

And that’s what we got! The lads were soon back to their best, winning battles all over the pitch. Alfie looked like he scored at the back post but play was allowed to carry on after the keeper clawed it out after it crossed the line.

Alfie involved again when he latched on to a loose back pass, calmly rounding the keeper and putting it into empty net. 3-1.

Sonny with some good midfield battling played in Albie who burst clear along the left and cut inside to set up a bullet of a shot. But he chose to square it Jacob, taking the keeper out of the game, who then buried it into an empty net. 4-1.

Jacob won us a free kick in the last minute of the game with some strong hold play just past half way. With the last kick of the game, Charlie put it straight on to the keeper who couldn’t keep it out. 5-1. FT.

Outstanding from the whole team today. 👏.

MOM was Seb with a tremendous display at CB. He won all of his battles and kept a very good centre forward quiet all game. Flawless. 2nd MOM in a row 👏👏. The opposition gave MOM to Jacob who was also brilliant today. Strong on the ball and a box of tricks.👏.

Back at home today for what feels like ages, but against the team that stuck 9 past us a couple of weeks back😬.

We started off very well, and matched them again for the first 15 minutes and created a few good chances. They took the lead after being the first to react to a parried shot with an easy tap in. The lads reacted well and equalised soon after; a series of saves from their keeper to keep us out but persistence from Charlie finally paying off when he lashed home high into the net from close range, and a tight angle. 1-1.

The opposition quickly regained the lead from the penalty spot, and completely knocked the wind out of our sales. 2-1 very quickly became 5-1 before the half time whistle. It was happening again.

A bit of a rallying call at half time after a harsh reminder of what can happen if you switch off at this level.

The 2nd half was loads better. The lads were back to playing how they did in the first 15 minutes, getting stuck in and showing good fight. The hard graft paid off when somehow Jacob found himself clean through, calmly rounded the keeper and rolled it home from close range. 5-2.

We had a few more opportunities to test their keeper but he was on good form. Some excellent defending and keeping from The Greens kept the score at 5-2, but a peach of a strike right in the top corner through a crowd meant the game finished 6-2.

Certainly a game of 2 halves. The lads were excellent 2nd half and showed great character to keep going at 5-1 down.

There were some excellent performances today; our MOM going to Seb for another solid defensive display at CB and CDM👏. Opposition MOM went to Albie who had an outstanding game at left in the 2nd half getting up and down that left hand side 👏

4th away league game on the bounce this week against a team we should be looking to be competitive against.

The lads were very quickly on top and dominated the early stages, creating plenty of chances to take the lead, but not really testing the keeper. The opposition got themselves back into the game half way through the 1st half, going toe to toe with us, but neither side having any clear cut chances. 0-0 at half time; can’t really complain, but disappointing we didn’t take advantage early on.

Bit of a nudge to the lads at half time to step up, and step it up.

2nd half started the same as the first with Birtley on top from the whistle, creating plenty of chances and this time testing the keeper.

The pressure on their goal finally paying off when Charlie picked up a loose ball just inside the box. No idea how he done it, but he got it out of his feet and then placed it perfectly into the top left corner while moving away from goal. What a goal lad! Unbelievable composure.

The pattern of the game stayed the same with The Greens well on top.; the back line looking solid and hard to get past, midfield working hard and attackers looking dangerous. Great discipline from the lads in keeping their shape and sticking to the game plan as often as they could

A deserved 2nd came midway through the 2nd half. Some brilliant and determined work from Jack to win the ball in midfield then play in Alfie. Alfie made no mistake with another composed finished past the onrushing keeper. 2-0.

Their keeper made a string of excellent saves in the 2nd half, and with 3 strong penalty appeals turned down, the score finished 2-0. The lads put in an excellent shift against a team in and around us and they all stood up to be counted. They dominated the majority of the match and the score could have been a lot more .

One player stood out for us today, and that was Charlie. Calm and composed wherever he played, the creative spark and won his battles. A top quality finish being the cherry on top. A brilliant all round performance. 👏. Opposition coaches gave it to Alfie who was a constant pain for their defenders and always looked dangerous going forward. 👏
