What excuses do YOU make in not addressing your health and fitness goals?

We can ALL procrastinate at times!!

But it can be helpful to explore what is sitting beneath the excuses we come up with when we are avoiding getting started - especially if it’s really important for you.

What are we thinking and believing in those moments?

What are we afraid of?

If we looked at that thought or fear I wonder, is it actually true?

Often the stories we tell ourselves and the excuses we come up with are ways of keeping ourselves safe.

After all change can be very tricky. We don’t know what the future will bring if we step into the unknown. We don’t know what else will change if we change.

Sometimes it can feel safer to keep things the way they are.

It’s helpful to recognise that these thoughts are safety mechanisms.

For many people, however it can be vital that we start to make some changes to future proof our health and well-being.

If this is YOU perhaps try this.

Next time you catch yourself making an excuse NOT to get started why not ask yourself some gentle supportive questions about the story you are telling yourself and the belief you are holding.

Ask yourself

Is this belief true?

What am I fearing?

Simple awareness can sometimes be enough to help us take our next step forward!!

Let me know how you get on!

And do contact me if you’d like some practical or mindset support to help you take action.

B-Fit women’s personal training club is not just an exercise class It’s a process, a new lifestyle choice for ‘thinking fit for the future’, this means setting sustainable, authentic goals, and then taking action throughout the week - so over time you get stronger, fitter and feel fantastic!

Thanks to Coaching for inspiring these thoughts with this image 👏

It was my birthday yesterday!! I made these delicious chocolate brownie, guinness muffins 🧁with white chocolate cream topping. 😋I loved doing this activity with my daughter and the muffins were amazing!! And then later in the evening I went out for a lovely Nepalese meal 😋 Why am I sharing this? I’m sharing because I think it’s important for us to know that EVEN if we are aiming for weight loss or is the unconscious about not eating too much sugar it’s okay to celebrate key events and YES that means eating cake!! It’s important actually!! We need to reframe our associations with good food and bad food - or foods being labelled as ‘naughty’ or ‘sins’! That just sets up unhealthy relationships with food and the idea that we have to cheat to enjoy ourselves. Many of us, of a certain age (!) already have a lifetime off unhealthy relationships to food and body image. It’s important that we reframe our relationships to ourselves and food if we want to make sustainable changes. Similarly to Fitness - Many of us are carrying around unhealthy ideas about ourselves and our bodies, many of which have been fuelled by the media and growing up . It’s time to change the conversation about health and fitness and our relationship to all things connected. It’s time to build, healthy, and authentic goals that will support us into our midlife. And a little cake every now and then us not a bad thing🧁 what do you think? BFIT my affordable personal training program for women is about cultivating healthy and sustainable relationships to health, exercise and nutrition. Some members are aiming for weight loss. Others are aiming to get fitter and stronger and to feel fantastic all round. find out more here - online and in person schedule www.thinkfitbefit.co.uk

RETREAT UPDATE - Would you like to join us on retreat in 2024?

The guiding theme of this month in Thriving Facilitators is around CONNECTION. (Every month we have a theme that lightly guides a focus of reflection).

We are all doing the work we do because we believe in the power of connection with other humans, for ourselves & survival, & for our nourishment and growth.

That can feel obvious for people in our line of work but it can also be important to reflect on what connection actually means for us moment to moment - both personally but also for our practice.

We can spend our days alongside people yet feel lonely, or disconnected;

We can be present with others but not 'in' presence;

We can 'do' stuff or things with people without fully connecting and embracing the present moment and presence.

We can be quiet, and not loud or 'out there' but be fully present sensing and being, feeling.

So what does connection and presence look like for you moment to moment?

And for your work, what do you desire in terms of connecting or showing up more fully to yourself and to also others?

Last weekend some members of Thriving Facilitators had the privilege of spending three days with each other on retreat which was a fabulous opportunity for them to connect, re-connect & experience presence in new ways - with themselves, the environment, & with one another.

So I'm excited to be holding the next retreat in May / June 2024
We are deciding on dates next week but wanted to find out how many more people might potentially be interested in coming.

Option ONE - Arriving Friday 31st May - Monday 3rd June 2024 - Space for 12 people in single accommodation, more if people share (some ensuite, some sharing bathrooms).

We already have 11 spaces filled so this option there there will be space for one extra person or two sharing.

Option TWO - Arrive Sunday 2nd June - Weds 5th June . With this option we have a lot more capacity at the venue so can take more people

Option THREE Arrive MONDAY 3rd - Thursday 4th June as above

Price guide (approx)- between £450-£560 depending on the room/sharing/single etc. (note this is a guide)

This is excellent value - all inclusive and involves your room, a lot of lovely food (you will not go hungry), facilitation, unlimited drinks.

I would ask for £150 deposit soon / to secure venue & then over the year you could pay the remaining 300-400 by instalments.

I would love for more practitioners to have this transformative experience.

So if you would like to hear more about the retreat and what it entails do send me a message.

Answer

A) Yes I'm IN and up for ANY of the 3 dates

😎 Im up for option ONE only (Friday-Monday) limited capacity.

C) I can NOT come to any of these dates (but would potentially be interested in other retreats)

D) I'm curious to find out more

I can't wait to hear from you! I need a response by the end of this week as I am securing the venue. Thank you so much!

Wow! We have just returned from the first ever Thriving Facilitators retreat held in Nantlle, Snowdonia. What an awesome, inspiring experience! Every single person who came on this adventure wants to go again! This is so exciting and I'm inspired to say I cannot wait to do it again!

The calm, restful environment of the retreat centre, enabled the participants to have space to 'be', to decompress and to rest amidst the support of like minded, open hearted participants. No judgement, no competition, no pressure, just space to be. The group took time for solo walks around the venue, just 'being' and noticing. The organic, home grown vegetarian food, (and lots of it) nourished and filled our bellies.

Swimming and dipping in the lake gave us a bracing immersion into the environment, and our workshop space, also framed by mountains, gave us space to move and to connect with one another. Yoga, pilates, reiki, and kinesiology, and the sharing of practices nourished our creativity, our bodies and possibility.

This was not a solo retreat so connection, joining and experiencing the presence with others, having a similar experience was key to the experience. This range of activities and practices supported us to connect on as humans and practitioners in all its layers.

Nestled with mountains as our backdrop, participants were inspired to think expansively about their vision or an 'impossible' project. They explored something they wanted to grow in their lives, their practice, or their organisation. Clean coaching whilst walking supported participants to explore this vision and their first steps towards it.

Finally, appreciative enquiry and our final reflections, including a lovely sketching exercise shared by a participant, enabled us to close the retreat and to take away something that will live with us throughout the year.

I’m looking at holding this again in May / June 2024 and exploring dates right now. There will ideally be a couple of spare spaces depending on the dates and availability a the venue.

If you are a heart centred practitioner and would value an experience like this. I would love to encourage you to connect with me. I highly recommend you get in touch as soon as possible as spaces will be limited.

Existing members of Thriving Facilitators will have priority places, previous TF members will be next in line, but get in touch with me as soon as possible.

The main criteria for coming is simple but important - open hearted practitioners (from any discipline in community or education not necessarily arts) who able to hold space for themselves and others and who are happy being in an open, relaxed setting are wholeheartedly invited.
If this is you we would love you to be involved. Do DM me as places will be limited.

PS If you would like me to create a retreat experience for your team, do get in touch and we can discuss how this might work.
