Our Summer Season got underway this week with two home matches. The first one was last Thursday against local rivals - Broadway. These games are often close-fought and this one was no exception with the final score being 66-64 in favour of Chess Vale.
Today we had our traditional curtain-raiser between teams representing the President and the Captain. On this occasion victory went to the Captain’s team by 56-43. Special mention to Pete and Sue Drewett who were playing in their first-ever match.

It's that time of year to start thinking about having a try at Bowls. We are holding two Open Days on Saturday 4th April and Saturday 11th from 10am until 4pm.
If you want to have a go, you do not need to book just turn up and have a try. It is completely free.
You don't need any special equipment other than flat-soled shoes. We shall provide everything else.
The Club is situated in Asheridge Road on the right-hand side a couple of hundred yards past the warehouses.

An excellent morning/afternoon Triples competition yesterday. Played in fine weather the final was played out between Christine Rance, Pauline Loakes and Ron Nettleton and Colin Woods, Sheila Clarke and Brian Rogers. The Final was played over seven ends with a final score of 7-7. This necessitated a further end to decide the victors. Congratulation to Colin, Shelia and Brian who snatched victory on the eighth end.

Once again the weather was kind to us for our Annual Gala Day today.
20 teams took part in this all-day competition. An excellent day's bowls was enjoyed by everyone and the winners this year were Bassetsbury (see picture)

After having a torrid time against Denham Colts in the Ray Keen League and Bovingdon in the Vets League earlier in the week, we bounced back with a couple of victories. On Wednesday, we gained our first win of the Season in the Ray Keen League with a 19-12 victory against Wexham. The team was Pete Titford, Dave and Freda Holt and Pete West. Today we had an away match at Tring. We won on all three rinks with an overall score of 58-37. Highest winning rink was Margaret Harding, Kevin Jones and Chris Wellsted.

Two good away results in the Three Counties League this week.
Firstly a 73-41 victory at Flackwell Heath followed by a 45-45 draw with High Wycombe. Total points gained was 13 which moves us into third place in the table

Two good results in the Three Counties League this week.
On Thursday we defeated Flackwell Heath on their own Green by 73-41 and on Saturday we travelled to High Wycombe and came away with a 45-45 draw.
Total points gained from these two matches was 13 which moves us up to third place in the table.

Congratulations to our two finalists in our Two Woods Competition. In all, twenty players took part with the final being decided by the narrowest of margins. The final score was 7-7 but Pauline Loakes took the honours by winning 5-4 on ends. Runner-up was Pete Titford
