Another week has flown by and, whilst many of us are enjoying the World Cup, there is plenty happening at the club as preparations continue for another exciting season...

🌱 All weather conditions in this third pitch update

🚜 The surface is stripped, and the first stages of grading the surface to remove the humps in the penalty boxes and middle of the pitch are underway

🕳️ Trenches now in place for the irrigation & drainage system piping are going in. More to come in the next few weeks before the grow phase begins

The pitch renovation continues to make excellent progress and it is fascinating to watch the transformation taking place day by day. The large "whale" that had developed through the middle of the pitch has now completely disappeared, the surface has been levelled and it is really starting to look like a football pitch again, minus the grass of course...

🏆️ WORLD CUP WATCH PARTY AT THE CHESS SUITE

We are delighted to have been chosen by the FA due to our strong community focus and the success of All In: Chesham United to host a family friendly England Football watch party for the Croatia game to kick off the 2026 World Cup

⏰ Doors open 7pm, for a 7.30pm start
🎤 as it's more than just the match with entertainment from Jim Daly Comedy and a Q&A with Alex Horne and former England, Liverpool & Portsmouth footballer Glen Johnson
🍛 The Kokum will be serving their fine Indian cuisine, supported by England Football, completely FREE to our guests

🔗 We have capacity for 100, tickets are FREE but need to be "purchased" on Fanbase.

A big thank you to Lee O'Leary as he leaves the Meadow, we wish Lee every success going forward

Coming the other way are Matt McClure who has retired and become First Team Coach and Finlay Johnson who joins as Head of Recruitment from Royston Town

We can announce our pre-season fixture list for the upcoming campaign with seven road trips while the Meadow is undergoing a full pitch reconstruction

As we look ahead to the new season in the Enterprise National League South, JD & Muzza have pencilled in seven friendlies on the road to prepare the players for the season ahead.

🚜 with the existing playing surface now being removed through the Koroing process, stripping away the grass and organic material

👋 We can confirm that last season's Young Player of the Season, Josh Addae, will depart The Meadow this summer.

Despite JD and Muzza being keen for Josh to stay and the club offering him new terms, Josh has chosen to take up an opportunity to return to full-time football

Time for my Friday notes and, despite being away, Chesham United is never far from my thoughts.

I have been doing plenty of walking every day around New Mexico and Arizona - trying to keep fit ahead of the new season!
