Missing 'Free Speed' on Race Day? 🏊‍♂️💥

Here’s the truth: pool fitness doesn't equal race-day ex*****on if your stroke falls apart in the first 200m.

Take a look at this clip this is exactly how we dial in pacing and open water skills under pressure. If your hand isn’t holding water with positive palm pressure, you’re leaking speed with every single stroke.

I am looking for 4 more triathletes currently training for a T100, 70.3, or Olympic distance race this season to fill out my Friday 9am Race Prep & CSS Pacing group at Guildford Lido in Surrey UK.

We will specifically target:

🔹 Managing the race-start surge (keeping your heart rate under control)

🔹 Maintaining positive palm pressure (no more slipping water when swimming side-by-side)

🔹 Strict CSS group pacing (finding and holding your actual race rhythm)

If you have a big race on the horizon and want to stop guessing your swim paces, DM me or grab one of the 4 remaining spots here:

You’re Fit… So Why Does Your Swim Fall Apart on Race Day?
You’ve done the pool work. The fitness is there. But then race day hits—chaos, contact, and a spiked heart rate—and everything changes.
As you can see in our race prep squad, this open water vertical start video, pool swimming is not the same as open water racing. I’m breaking down exactly what goes wrong and how to fix it so you can keep your composure when the gun goes off.
Stop guessing. Start training with purpose:

Why the First 200m of Your Swim Ruins Your Race
The start of a triathlon swim isn’t steady—it’s a surge.
If you only train at a steady pace, your heart rate will spike and your stroke will fall apart in the first few minutes, leaving you chasing the race. This is where most time is lost.
In the race prep squad, we are simulating these exact race-start conditions. We train for the surge so you don't have to guess on race day.

Ready to hunt down a Swim new PB for your next triathlon? 🏊‍♂️💨
If your swim splits are stalling, you don't need more laps—you need better intent. We specialise in transforming "pool swimmers" into "race-day machines."
This is where we build the speed that sticks.
The Performance Edge
Explosive Take-Outs: Master the 200m sprint speed needed to drop the pack and find clear water.
CSS Precision: We dial in your Critical Swim Speed so you can hold your threshold without redlining before T1.
Drafting & Sighting: Stop wasting energy. Learn to stay on the feet and navigate like a pro.
Technique Under Pressure: High-intensity sets designed to keep your stroke from falling apart when the heart rate climbs.
Don’t Just Train. Compete.
Our Friday sessions are built for triathletes who are tired of mid-pack finishes. We provide the structure; you bring the hustle.

Why You’re “Slipping” Water (And
Losing Free Speed)

Most triathletes aren’t lacking fitness—they’re leaking
speed every stroke.

If your hand isn’t holding water with positive palm
pressure, you aren’t moving forward efficiently. In the
triathlon race prep squad, we practice maintaining that
"catch" even when swimming drafting off the feet .

Fix this for:

âś” An easier pace

âś” Lower heart rate/effort

âś” Better control in open water

Want help applying this under pressure?

Master the currents. Join you must. The catch is strong within you!

Look, the open water is a beast—unpredictable, cold, and crowded. But a true Tri-Jedi doesn't just fight the water; they flow with it. In this video, notice the synchronisation. Moving as one, the squad does. Harnessing the pack to crush resistance, they are.

The Path to Mastery
Mind over Metrics: Dial in those CSS splits with the focus of a Master. Consistency is the key.

Hyperspace Starts: Nail the race take-out speed to leave the "washing machine" chaos in your wake. Fast, you must be, to find the clean water.

The Silent Slipstream: Like the legends here, stay on the feet to save your energy for the land battle. Efficient, the Jedi is.

Sleek Formation: Refine your technique until you glide like an X-Wing through a vacuum. Friction, your enemy it is.

Join the High Council
Don't let the "snooze" button lead you to the Dark Side. Whether you’re a gritty veteran or a New Hope, there’s a spot in the lane for you.

"Do or do not. There is no 'try!'

🏊‍♂️ The TRIATHLON SWIM "Battlefield" Just Got Faster: New Friday Swim Group Starts May 1st 9AM at Guildford Lido! 🏊‍♂️
Stop just "swimming laps" and start training for your own podium!

Are you an Olympic distance triathlete, a 70.3 specialist, or eyeing the T100? The Friday morning session you’ve been waiting for is officially here. We are turning the pool into a technical lab and a high-performance battlefield to ensure your swim is your secret weapon, not your weakness.

🗓️ THE DETAILS
Start Date: Friday, May 1st

Focus: VO2 Max, Race Pace Take-outs, and Open Water Specificity.

Target: Competitive Triathletes (Olympic, 70.3, T100).

⚡ WHAT’S ON THE MENU?
We aren’t just looking for a "feel for the water"—we’re looking for speed under pressure. Our Friday sessions are built around:

Race Pace Take-outs: Master that initial 200m anaerobic burst without blowing up for the rest of the leg.

Threshold Pacing: Build the "diesel engine" required to hold your line in the pack.

Open Water Mastery: In-pool drills for sighting, sharp turnarounds, and deep-water starts so you’re never caught off guard.

The Battlefield: High-intensity sets designed to simulate the physical nature of a race-start environment.

🎯 WHY THIS GROUP?
Triathlon swimming is different. You need the ability to sight without breaking rhythm and the power to bridge gaps in the water. We bridge the gap between "pool swimmer" and "open water machine."

Ready to level up your swim split?
Space is limited to ensure quality coaching and lane flow.

Master Your Stroke: Front Crawl Analysis at Guildford Lido
Ever feel like you’re fighting the water instead of gliding through it? 🌊
We’ve just wrapped up a deep-dive Front Crawl Video Analysis session at the iconic Guildford Lido, and the results are game-changing for our Surrey and Hampshire swim community.
For our Age Group athletes (30–55), efficiency is the name of the game. Whether you’re training for a standard distance tri or just want to feel smoother during your morning laps, seeing yourself on screen is the "Aha!" moment you’ve been looking for.
🔍 What We Spotted in the Lanes:
The "Cross-Over" Fix: We helped several swimmers stop their hands from crossing the center line, instantly curing that "snake" wiggle in the water.
Hip Drive & Rotation: Proper rotation isn't just for speed—it saves your shoulders from unnecessary wear and tear.
The High Elbow Catch: Turning a "push" into a "pull" to maximize every single stroke.
"You can't fix what you can't see."
Moving efficiently through the water isn't about pulling harder; it’s about reducing drag. Seeing your stroke from above and below the surface at the Lido provides the clarity needed to shave seconds off your PB without hitting the red zone.
Shout out to all the local swimmers from Guildford, Woking, Farnham, and Basingstoke who joined us! 👏
🎥 Ready to see your own stroke in HD?
If you're tired of guessing why your pace has plateaued, it’s time to get on camera.

Why your "Speed" sessions are failing you. 🛑
You’re hitting the Tuesday sprints. You’re pushing your heart rate. But come race day, you still feel like you’re "swimming through treacle" after the first 400m.
The Problem: You have a "ceiling" (Threshold) but no "floor" (Aerobic Base). Without a solid aerobic foundation, your technique crumbles the moment fatigue sets in.
The Solution: Our Friday Aerobic Base Group (9am). From 1st May 2026
We don't chase the clock; we chase efficiency. We build the aerobic engine that allows you to hold your best technique for the entire duration of your race. Tuesday makes you fast; Friday makes you unstoppable.

📽️ The Camera Doesn't Lie: Stroke
Analysis at Guildford Lido
Ever wonder what your front crawl actually looks like
once you’ve settled into your rhythm? 🏊‍♂️

We took to the lanes at the beautiful Guildford Lido to
capture some high-definition underwater footage. For
our age group swimmers (30–55), efficiency isn't just a
"nice to have"—it’s the secret to swimming faster for
longer without the burnout.

🔍 What we’re looking at in this clip:

The Entry & Reach: Notice the clean hand entry?
Reducing "splash and bubbles" at the front of the
stroke means less drag and more grip on the water.

Wetsuit Positioning: For our Surrey and Hampshire
triathletes, practising in your suit is vital. It changes
your buoyancy and how your hips rotate.

The Catch: See how the forearm starts to engage
early? That’s where the power comes from!

đź’ˇ Why Video Analysis?

By age 30+, most of us have developed "muscle
memory" that feels right, even if it’s slowing us down.
Video analysis breaks those habits by showing you
exactly where you're leaking energy.

Whether you're prepping for an Ironman or just want to
feel more confident in the local 50m pool, seeing is
believing—and improving.
📍 Location: Guildford Lido, Surrey.

🏊‍♂️ Focus: Efficiency, Drag Reduction, and Stroke
Mechanics.

Ready to see your own stroke from this perspective?

Drop a "SWIM" in the comments or DM us to book
your 1-to-1 video analysis session in Surrey or
Hampshire! đź“©
