It was too hot for most on our Walk for Health Annual Grand Day out at Bristol Docks, but 6 of us made it. Saw the Banksy Artwok,
Girl with the Pierced Eardrum and enjoyed a lovely stroll around the harbour, visiting the magnificent Bristol Cathedral and finishing off on the Ferry around the docks. A great day out!
Come and join us, we meet 10 am every Monday (except bank holidays) at Chepstow Leisure centre rear car park. No booking required. We car share to the start of the walk which could be anywhere in the Forest of Dean, Monmouthshire and even England! All walks are less than 3 miles and easy.

SUMMER HOLIDAYS
Long treks to the airport, turning up three hours early, shuffling through security queues, navigating the new European Entry/Exit biometric checks for non‑EU travellers — and that’s before you even think about rising fuel surcharges or the possibility of a US visa refusal. It’s enough to make anyone wonder why we put ourselves through it in peak season.
Which is why a UK summer holiday feels like such a breath of fresh air.

Instead of stress, you get space. Instead of queues, you get coastlines, countryside and characterful towns. Staycations let you slow down, explore at your own pace and rediscover the beauty that’s been sitting quietly on your doorstep all along. Save the big overseas adventures for the calmer off‑peak months, when travel feels like a treat rather than an endurance test.

And for a truly memorable break, choose a Walkers are Welcome community. These are places that champion their footpaths, celebrate their landscapes and offer the kind of warm, local welcome that turns a simple getaway into something genuinely special.

The weather held off beautifully for our monthly walk this morning around Trellech, exploring the wells, springs and wildflowers, with even a few welcome glimpses of sunshine along the way!

It just goes to show that you can't always rely on the weather forecast. Several of us use different weather apps, and more often than not they seem to predict something different, especially when it comes to rain! Thankfully, today's forecasts proved a little more pessimistic than reality.

A big thank you to Chris Pearce-Webb for the great photos which capture the walk. We're also delighted to hear that you enjoyed it.

Thank you to everyone who joined us. It's always a pleasure to share these local treasures and we look forward to seeing you on our next walk.
