Our final pre season friendly is here!

Saturday marks our final test before the league season gets underway, and it’s another opportunity for the lads to put everything we’ve worked on over pre-season into practice.

We’ve already faced two very good and experienced sides during our preparations, and Southside Star FC will be no different. We know this will be another tough test for the lads, but exactly the type of game we need as we get closer to the start of the season.

There’s plenty still to work on, but the progress over the past few weeks has been encouraging. Saturday is about competing, learning, improving and making sure we’re ready for when the points start to matter.

Remembering Darren ♥️

Thank you to every single person who played, watched, donated, helped or simply turned up and made today so special.

Today was about so much more than football. It was about coming together as a community, remembering Darren, sharing memories, and showing Darren’s family that they are surrounded by people who care.

Together, the match raised an incredible £270, with a further £130 donated to Darren’s go fund me page by players of St Paul’s United FC, bringing the total raised today to £400.

Rest Peacefully, Darren.. Today was for you, we played in your memory. We remembered the person you were and the memories you gave to those around you.♥️

Tomorrow, we come together for Darren. ♥️

Tomorrow is about much more than football. It’s about coming together as a community, remembering Darren, supporting his family and showing just how much people care.

Whether you’re playing, supporting from the sidelines or simply coming along to show your support, every single person makes a difference.

We’d love to see as many people as possible there tomorrow. Let’s make it a special afternoon, see you all tomorrow.

Due to our opposition having to cancel, St Paul’s United FC are now looking for a friendly on Saturday 29th August.

Next Up: Siddington AFC

Our attention turns to our next pre season friendly against Siddington AFC this Saturday.

Another great opportunity to continue building fitness, understanding and chemistry as a team. We’ll take the positives from Saturday, learn from the mistakes and look to put in another strong performance.

What an incredible effort from everyone who has supported Darren’s family so far.

Following Darren’s heartbreaking passing after his courageous two year battle with cancer, this fundraiser organised by Sam Jeffries, was created to support Dom, Jackson, Iris and Elijah as they face life without their beloved partner and dad.

To reach £3,200 of the £3,500 target is absolutely phenomenal.

And still with our charity match for Darren on 23rd August to come, we’re hoping to make a huge contribution and get that final £300 raised. 🙏

Let’s give Dom, Jackson, Iris and Elijah one less thing to worry about as they navigate a future they never imagined having to face without Darren.

St Paul’s United FC would like to share, with the heartfelt blessing of Darren Newman’s family, that the club has organised a fundraising match in Darren’s memory.

Darren faced his two‑year battle with cancer with courage, dignity, and a strength that inspired everyone around him. His passing last week has left a deep sadness across our community, and this special day will give us the chance to come together, remember him with love, and honour the incredible person he was.

On Sunday 23rd August, with a 2pm kick‑off at Agg Gardners Rec, we will unite to celebrate Darren’s life in the way he would have loved through football, friendship, and family.

There will be no limit on players who wish to take part; Men, Women, Boys and Girls, whether you play 5 minutes, 30 minutes, or the full 90, it’s entirely your choice. Everyone will get time during the match.

Each player will donate £10, with 100% of the money raised going directly to Darren’s family.

After 6 years, 5 months and 1 day.. St Paul’s United FC are back on a football pitch.

Tomorrow we face Cheltenham Premier Division side FC Lakeside 1st at Tewkesbury School in a pre season friendly.
