This mornings session was a ‘punch the clock’ session. It was early and I’m suffering from a dose of man flu.
I’d say around 60-70% of my workouts are ‘punch the clock’ sessions. I do what’s planned, I tick off my movements and it gets done. No PBs, nothing to write home about but I still get the session done.
The other 30-40% of my workouts are either ‘get in, get out, do the minimum’ where I don’t really want to train, or ‘the Hollywood sessions’, those sessions where you feel amazing, you might PB, you feel strong and unstoppable.
It would be great to have those Hollywood sessions all the time but in reality life happens, work happens amongst everything else.
What is important though is the work gets done. The sessions get ticked off. Whether you’re feeling motivated or not, you still get in and do the work. Building momentum, building consistency, making it part of your day and your life.
So don’t expect fancy, super motivated workouts all the time. Enjoy them when they come but don’t stop doing the average workouts, they all count, they all add up.
“Consistently average beats being inconsistently perfect”.
