Another busy few days of cricket for Springfield, with some great wins, a few close games and plenty of individual performances worth shouting about! 🏏💚
Saturday saw all five senior sides in action.
The 1st XI drew against Hornchurch Athletic in a hard-fought game. Manish Burman takes Player of the Match after carrying his bat for a superb 61*.
The 2nd XI picked up a brilliant 4-wicket win over Ingatestone & Fryerning. Mani Singh was the standout performer, earning Player of the Match with a fantastic 62 runs.
The 3rd XI were involved in one of the closest games of the day, narrowly losing to Basildon & Pitsea by just 10 runs. Rishi Sankararaman takes Player of the Match after an excellent spell that saw him claim 4 wickets.
The 4th XI came up against a strong Theydon Bois side and unfortunately lost by 174 runs. Will Aldworth was named Player of the Match for his efforts with the ball, taking 2 wickets.
The 5th XI also put in a strong effort against Rayleigh but fell to a 4-wicket defeat. The highlight was a brilliant knock from Karunya Meruga, whose 76 runs earned him Player of the Match.
Sunday saw our junior sides take on Upminster.
The U10s unfortunately lost by 131 runs, but the team continue to learn and improve with every game they play.
The U12s had a much better afternoon, recording a fantastic 64-run victory. Sam Dixon was named Player of the Match after scoring an impressive 30 runs.
On Monday evening, our Women's team played their first hardball league fixture against Shenfield. In a game that could have gone either way, they were unlucky to come out on the wrong side of a 6-run defeat.
A special mention goes to Kate Golding, who was named Player of the Match for a superb all-round performance with both bat and ball.
Well done to everyone who represented Springfield over the weekend. There may have been a mixture of results, but there was no shortage of effort, commitment and performances to be proud of across the club. Onto the next one! 💚🏏
