Here’s a bit of a profile on our little pocket rocket Ellie, who joined us last season and had a huge impact on our midfield.

Known for her ‘keepy uppies’, falling over lots (commitment to the cause) and richocheting tomahawks - she also brings the cheekiness to the team chat.

1. How long have you played hockey?

I have played hockey since I was 11 but stopped for a few years after leaving high school

2. What made you join Carrow Ladies?

Everyone was so friendly and welcoming and a good laugh to play with

3. What’s your favourite thing about the club?

My favorite thing about the club is how friendly everyone is. Every game and training session is so much fun because we all just make each other laugh

Fun, inclusive and comical

Do it! You will have lots of fun!

I couldn't think of a better way to spend my Saturdays!

Anyone know where summer went? 🤔

Our ‘See You Next Tuesday’ team played hockey in ☀️🌧️ ⚡️and ❄️ last night in the ‘summer’ league!

All the seasons in one night! They still loved it though. Troopers! 🏑

This week, we hear from Lovely Lauren who joined us just last season. She can be seen zipping around the defensive D, and doesn’t give up trying to get that ball back…she also looks really cool in a leather jacket! 😎

2. What made you join Carrow Ladies?

I joined because a friend told me how supportive the club was after coming from a club that had little training and no support.

3. What’s your favourite thing about the club?

Everyone makes me feel valued player, encourages me to be a better player and we have a laugh.

Tea if morning, prosecco if afternoon!!!

5. Describe the team in 3 words

Fun, supportive, friendly

Cheese sandwiches

7. What would you say to someone thinking of joining?

You will feel a sense of belonging in a supportive, friendly team.

8. Funniest teammate?

Ellie, for her tackles and always falling over!

Carrow is a crazy bunch of ladies that make me feel proud to be part of the team.

This week, we hear from trusty mid fielder Nadine, whose calm presence brings stability and style on and off the pitch… 🎩💄

How long have you played hockey?
- At school eons ago and then when I joined Carrow about 8 years ago (blimey - you’d really think I’d be better by now!)

What made you join Carrow Ladies?
- My daughter Lucy, who was already a member and thought I’d enjoy it (she wasn’t wrong).

What’s your favourite thing about the club?
- Training - it’s such a laugh!

Tea, coffee or post-match prosecco?
- Cup of tea for me, please.

Describe the team in 3 words
- Fun, friendly and supportive.

Favourite post-match snack?
- Can’t resist a piece of flapjack.

What would you say to someone thinking of joining?
- Never underestimate the satisfaction of hitting a ball really hard with a big stick.

Funniest teammate?
- Bernie.

- FOMO and the camaraderie.

Over the summer, we’ll introduce you to a few of our valued team players to find out more about why they choose to play for Carrow Hockey Club. 🏑

Today, we hear from Paula - our trusty sweeper who can always be relied on to get that final tackle in at the D (and brings her unique ‘musical’ talents and fun to the changing room)… 🎶

1. How long have you played hockey?

On and off since I was 10, didn’t play for club until I was 18 and that was for Carrow. I moved away had a family so stopped in my late twenties. Came back again 13 years later.

2. What made you join Carrow Ladies?

It’s always been so welcoming, I was burnt out at work, acing a mid life crisis, unfit and over weight. I wanted to feel like me again. That was over 10 years ago and I can confirm I am me !

3. What’s your favourite thing about the club?

You get to meet people you’d never normally speak too, we take it seriously (ish), it’s incredibly supportive, whatever your skill level you are encouraged to find a place with plenty of pitch time.

4. Tea, coffee or post-match prosecco? 🍾

5. Describe the team in 3 words

Fun, friendly and inspiring

6. Favourite post-match snack?

Choppers Victoria sponge

7. What would you say to someone thinking of joining?

It’s scary to do something new BUT you regret the things you don’t try

The camaraderie and belonging. Nothing as satisfying as hitting a ball sweetly.
