On the way to teaching last week, I found myself reflecting on what yoga actually means to me.
The longer I practise, the less I think yoga is about achieving impressive postures.
Of course, postures have value. They help us build strength, mobility and awareness. But I don't think the posture itself is the point.
What interests me is what happens inside the posture.
Can we stop striving for a moment?
Can we stop comparing ourselves to what we used to be able to do, or what someone else can do?
Can we let go of trying to perfect the shape and instead become curious about our experience?
For me, that's where yoga begins.
It's why my next six-week theme in class is called:
Falling Into the Body: Finding the Space Within the Shape
Together we'll explore yoga from the inside through movement, breathwork, meditation and relaxation.
Not as a way of becoming someone else but as an opportunity to experience what is happening right now.
This six-week journey begins next week, and bookings are now open.
