August bank holiday the members turned up for the Chatman and Captains competition and played a round robin.
We were treated to a wonderful buffet with plenty of drinks. The weather was atrocious at first and delayed the start but it eventually became clear and a lovely afternoon.
The final winners were Anne Petersen and David Barratt 2nd Linda Perrin and John Gallagher 3rd Brenda Day and Tony Harrison and bringing up the ‘rear of the field’ was Gill Johnson and David Elliot!! Someone has to be last!!!!!

We continued to finish The Merit cup today, the one we abandoned last week when we had a cloud burst. So today in sweltering temperatures, a complete contrast to last week, SueSmith and Sandra Saxon along with Sandra McDermott and Joyce McCoy played in the semi final, with Sue beating Sandra Saxon and Joyce beating Sandra McDermott. So the final was Joyce and Sue. Great final with Joyce winning in the end. Congratulations to you both

The ladies today, in a very humid atmosphere, were playing in the Merit cup but from nowhere came a cloudburst and the bowling green in seconds was a large pond. Can I say. “Rain stopped play”. To be resumed next Tuesday. We have never seen our green flooded like this. Please don’t say we needed it!!!!! BTW. There was no rain in Wilmslow! !!!!!

After all that beautiful hot, dry weather today we had to play for the Sally Fields Salver in RAIN. It was cold but when the sun came out it was hot so waterproofs were on then off then back on !!! Come back dry weather , please. However, we all made the best of it and we reached the semi finals with Duncan Bruce and Pauline O’Sullivan being knocked out by Sandra MacDermott and Len Brumby who went on to meet Joyce McCoy and Tony Harrison in the final. Joyce and Tony were the winners. Great day.
