🏏 THAT’S A WRAP! WHAT A WAY TO FINISH THE SEASON! 💙💛

The final weekend of the season is in the books — and what a weekend it was for C&CCC!

🔥 1st XI — UNBEATEN IN SEPTEMBER! 🔥

Charlesworth 151/6
Whaley Bridge 45 all out

The 1st XI finished the season in sensational style, defending 151 to bowl Whaley Bridge out for just 45!

Ivan Heathcote led the way with a crucial 46, but then came the moment nobody saw coming…

🎬 PHIL ELLIOTT: THE SEVEN-WICKET PHENOMENON!

7 wickets. 4 runs.

Yes, you read that correctly. 7-4.

Phil didn’t just bowl them out — he practically removed Whaley Bridge from the cricketing map. Batters were disappearing quicker than the last pint at Bankfield.

At this point, the England selectors are going to have to explain themselves. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿😂

A magnificent way to finish a September in which the 1st XI went completely unbeaten! 👏

💥 2nd XI — MILLER TIME!

Charlesworth 68/5
Chapel 67 all out

Another clinical performance as the 2nd XI bowled Chapel out for just 67.

⭐ Mackenzie Miller led the charge with a ridiculous 3/4, while Danny Miller’s 27 helped steer C&CCC home.

A brilliant final result!

🌱 3rd XI — DEVELOPMENT DONE RIGHT

Hollingworth 173/8
Charlesworth 110/9

A tough afternoon against a strong and experienced Hollingworth side.

👏 Rohan Wood led the bowling with 2/17 from 4 overs, while Mike Woodhead kept things incredibly tight with 1/7 from 4.

With the bat, James Giles and Ed Watson put in strong performances, while our juniors once again got some invaluable time at the crease.

And that’s exactly what the 3rd XI is about — giving our young players minutes in the middle, developing them and building for the future.

There’s plenty to be excited about heading into 2027! 💙💛

A Huge Thank You and Farewell to the One and Only Cooper Bramley

Sadly, today is the day we say goodbye to Cooper as he heads back home to Australia. 🇦🇺

What a season he leaves behind at CCCC. As the first overseas player in our club's history, Cooper's arrival was a milestone for Charlesworth Cricket Club and an experience that will live long in the memory. From day one, he slotted right in.
With 41 wickets and being the highest outfield catcher, the statistics speak for themselves. However, numbers only tell part of the story of Cooper's time in Charlesworth.

Cooper arrived in the UK on his own, although it wasn't long before the family arrived. Dad Aaron, Mum Aimee, sister Halle and, of course, girlfriend Ayla all made the journey over. Cooper got to experience London and Paris with his family before they headed home, and later travelled to Amsterdam, Barcelona, Madrid and Ibiza with Ayla. Before long, Cooper's family became Charlesworth's adopted Australian family.

He wasn't just our first overseas player; he became a huge part of the Charlesworth community.

On the field, we'll always remember his enthusiasm, energy and loud Aussie voice keeping the team going. And when his innings came to an end, the walk back to the pavilion and whatever strop followed was often one of the highlights of a Saturday afternoon!

Away from cricket, Cooper fully embraced village life. Whether it was a round of golf with the lads or joining Aaron to watch his beloved Hyde United, he threw himself into everything Charlesworth had to offer. We also learned fairly quickly that Cooper and BuzzBalls were not always the best combination!

If he wasn't out with the lads, you'd often find him behind the bar pulling pints at The George & Dragon, where Colin and his fantastic family welcomed him into their home for six months and treated him as one of their own.

Then there were the caps, seemingly permanently attached to his head, unless Rohan had pinched one and Cooper was chasing him around the field trying to get it back!

Cooper, it has been an absolute pleasure having you as part of the Charlesworth family. As our first-ever overseas player, you embraced the club, the people and everything that came with it, and you've certainly left your mark on CCCC.

Thank you for everything you contributed, both on and off the field. You will always be part of the Charlesworth family. We hope Australia feels like home again, but remember, you'll always have a home waiting for you in Charlesworth.

Safe travels, Coop. We hope to see you back this way one day soon!

🥇 1st XI – Saturday

IT'S BEEN A LONG TIME COMING... BUT THE 1ST XI HAVE THEIR FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON! 🎉🙌

A brilliant all-round team performance saw the lads secure a convincing victory over Chapel-en-le-Frith.

⭐ Sam Gilham was the star of the show, scoring 21 runs before producing a superb bowling performance of 5/29! 🔥

👏 We're also delighted to highlight that Sam is proudly sponsored by Swizzels, and what a performance to celebrate it with! 🍬🏏

🎯 Phil Elliott also impressed with the ball, taking an excellent 4/21.

The winning continued on Sunday as the 3rd XI picked up another fantastic victory!

🏏 Tom Greenwood led the way with the bat, top-scoring with 41 runs.

🔥 With the ball, Mike Woodhead starred with 4/10, while Andy Atherton chipped in brilliantly with 3/16.
