🔥 MORETTIS MARCH ON! 🔥
Crewkerne Rangers 0–3 Merriott Moretti
Three meetings in three weeks. Three goals. Three points. JOB DONE! 💪⚽
The Morettis made the trip to Chinnock to face Crewkerne Rangers for the third time in as many weeks. With the pitch in excellent condition and the weather perfect for football, it was all set up for a cracking game.
The Morettis won the toss and elected to play uphill in the first half. Crewkerne started the brighter of the two sides, but despite their early pressure, they failed to create any clear-cut chances.
As the half progressed, Merriott began to find their rhythm, moving the ball around nicely and creating several promising openings and corners.
⚽ 15 MINUTES – DARCH DELIVERS!
Some lovely passing opened up the Crewkerne defence, allowing Harry Darch to race through on goal. Showing great composure, he coolly chipped the keeper to put the Morettis 1–0 up!
A first goal of the season for Harry — and what a way to get it! 🎯
⚽ 2–0 – PARKMAN PUTS THE PRESSURE ON!
Ten minutes later, Louka Parkman got his reward for another tireless shift. Working hard for the team, Louka found himself in the right place and calmly slotted past the keeper to double the advantage.
At 2–0, the Morettis were looking confident and dangerous, with further chances coming and going. Ben Gentle nearly sent the ball into orbit after meeting a clearance on the edge of the box with a first-time strike — a shot that may still be travelling somewhere over Dorset! 🚀
At the other end, the defence stood firm, while Owen made a couple of important saves, coming off his line confidently to keep Crewkerne at bay.

⬇️ SECOND HALF – UPHILL BATTLE, LITERALLY!
Now playing downhill, the gaffer may have thought the hard work was done. Crewkerne, however, had other ideas and came out strongly after the break.
Long balls from the back became their main weapon, but the Morettis remained organised and disciplined. Owen was called into action again with a couple of good saves, ensuring the clean sheet stayed intact.
Merriott continued to threaten on the counter-attack, creating several good chances but just failing to find that third goal. As the clock ticked down, Crewkerne were still searching for a way back into the game.
Then came the killer blow! 💥
⚽ 90 MINUTES – WATTS SEALS IT!
With virtually the last kick of the game, a dangerous cross came into the box. The Crewkerne goalkeeper came to claim it, but Marcus Watts had other plans!
Playing through the middle, Marcus rose brilliantly and headed the ball over the keeper and into the net to put the result beyond doubt.
GAME OVER. THREE NIL. THREE POINTS. CLEAN SHEET. 🧤🔥
👏 WELCOME BACK, LADS!
A special mention to Josh Welch and Ben Gentle, who both made a welcome return to the club.
🏆 MAN OF THE MATCH: ROBSON HOOPER
Robson was absolutely fantastic, putting in a superb performance and leading by example. A thoroughly deserved Man of the Match!
💪 THE GAFFER’S VERDICT
A brilliant team performance, with everyone putting in the hard yards to secure the Morettis’ first points of the season. Three well-taken goals, a solid defensive display and another clean sheet to build on.
There was, however, one mystery of the afternoon…
🤔 DONKEY OF THE DAY: THE GAFFER! 🫏
For reasons still unclear to the rest of the squad, the gaffer somehow managed to earn himself the unwanted award. We’ll let him explain that one!
