The pitch was in excellent condition under clear, sunny skies, and despite having only one substitute, Moretti fielded a strong squad.
Passing, however, proved inconsistent throughout, with several balls overhit. Moretti started positively, while Misterton won a few early corners that were well defended. Around 15 minutes in, Ethan latched onto a through pass but struck early, sending his effort over the bar. Ten minutes later, Louka P found himself in a similar position and produced a good shot past the keeper, only to see it come back off the crossbar. Shortly after, Harry attempted an effort from a tight angle, but his shot drifted wide.
Moretti continued to press and controlled large parts of the first half. A cross eventually found Noah at the back post, but his attempt also went over the bar. At halftime, the score remained 0โ0.
The second half began in a similar fashion, with plenty of energy but a lack of precision in passing. Moretti created a couple more chances but couldnโt convert. As the half progressed, Misterton grew into the game and made their breakthrough around the 25-minute mark. A long ball over the top released their left winger, who delivered a cross for the opposite winger to finish emphatically, making it 1โ0.
Moretti pushed hard for an equaliser and created several opportunities, but Misterton remained resolute and defended well. In the end, it was a deserved win for Misterton, with missed chances proving costly for Moretti.
With a week off ahead, the team can enjoy a well-earned rest before the cup final next Friday at Forton, where they face Forton in hopes of securing back-to-back Division Cup victories. Up the Morettis!
