A very busy weekend ahead! 🏏

All stars and Dynamos tonight, four Saturday teams in action tomorrow. The Bar and Café will be bustling in the sunshine 🍻😋

Good luck to the ladies in the hardball and softball leagues and for the away quarter final fixture to Keynsham. Fantastic numbers mean we can squeeze three games Into one weekend 🫣

Youth fixtures are in play for the U10s and U15s as usual on Sunday.

Chard U12 girls were defeated by 39 runs at Beaminster on Monday evening.

This was the first comprehensive defeat the team has encountered this year. To their credit, all the girls showed great determination and character against a strong Beaminster boys team.

As always, there were some standout performances and moments.

✨ Nethuli taking two wickets
✨ Zara’s 3-8 from her three overs
✨ Freya’s economical spell
✨ Jessica hitting three consecutive balls for 4️⃣
✨ Zara’s 11 not out
✨ Pru’s defiant batting
✨ Genevieve saving numerous runs at third man with her relentless fielding

The girls move forward to their final league match of the season on Monday, when they are at home to North Perrott.

Monday's under 12 match against Beaminster didn't result in a win, but...showcased exactly what we want to build: a squad for the future. We saw fantastic all-around team skills, a brilliant attitude, and great sportsmanship. 😎
For such a young side, their constant progress, potential, and collective effort are incredibly promising. Chasing down a big 333 score and getting well over 300 in reply was a huge effort.
Every player stepped up to support one another in the field, keeping energy high from the first ball to the last.
We are seeing a real shift in how the team reads the game, with smarter decision-making between the wickets and in the field. The focus remains on learning and enjoying the game. 😃
The squad’s eagerness to improve during training is translating wonderfully into match-day performances. Considering their age when playing against often stronger, older sides, their development as a team indicates a bright future for this group. 🏏
A special mention this week for Isaac whose superb batting saw 17 off one over Including 3 fours, and a total of 32* and for Declan who made a brilliant impression on the coaches on his debut!

A comprehensive victory for our ladies hardball team yesterday as they travelled up the M5 to Claverham. Bowling first, we saw a Wicket Maiden for Milly Stewart, two wickets for Immy Murphy and three in one over for Chessie Dalwood 👏👏👏. Lucie Hopkins and Emmie Dalwood finished off the brilliant bowling display with one each resulting in Claverham all out for only 31 runs.

It didn't take long to knock those off, with Hollie Knight and Skye Northover at the crease. Great batting including a lovely 6 hit right off the middle of Skyes bat saw us all back in the car before four overs were out.

Not a huge amount of opportunity for everyone this week, but as always team spirit is pretty intimidating!

Well done ladies, another class display. 🏏🏏

Chard U10s were away to Yeovil this morning and gave their best team performance of the season. The bowling and fielding was outstanding. Chard took 7 Yeovil wickets with the pick of the bowling being captain Hattie Scott (3 wickets). In reply Chard went past Yeovil’s score in the final over. Pick of the batters were Finn Spurway and Harry Scott. Well done to the whole team, you should be very proud of yourselves. 🏏🏏🏏
