Looby Chubb Equestrian Hi my name is Looby Marsden, I have been riding since I was 7 years old and have always had a passion for horses.

I learnt to ride at Drakes Farm with Mrs Matravers who gave me a brilliant grounding. I then went to ride for several private people helping back, school and compete a variety of horses. I have been working for/training with Ruth & Tony Kuszek since the age of 15 and they have been very influential in my handling and riding of horses. I worked for Rachel Shire for several years and she has also he

lped me alot and brought on my flat work skills by miles. I have also carried out work experience with Jabeena Masline and Jimmy Frost, spent 10 months in New Zealand working for the top showjumper Ike Unsworth and ridden for International Dressage rider Sally Bell. I am now backing, schooling, competing and teaching for myself. I have successfully ridden to BS Foxhunter, BE90 and BD PSG. I am a fully qualified BHSAI which also means I have my First Aid Certificate, Child Protection Certificate, BHS satges 1,2 &3, PTT exam and attend CPDs yearly. Such a fun weekend at Hartpury regionals with Macho & Sally Bell Dressage!

As Sally quite rightly said, it took some convincing to get me to go, as I thought it would be too overwhelming for Macho. Well....I was proven wrong! He was impeccably mannered in 2 arena walks & 2 tests, albeit a little fiesty on Sunday evening 🐎💨. But it was alot of firsts for him and he really did cope very well.

I went first in the Prelim Silver and we managed to do a lovely test, other than our halt which was costly, scoring 68.4% and coming 6th out of a big class. 4th place was also on 68%, so a better halt would have lifted us a few places 🤦‍♀️

Sally then rode him in the Novice Gold which was an insanely hot class, but he went very well and scored a 67.3%.

A very successful and educational couple of days all round and always fun going with Sally! Our sleeping arrangements were less than ideal, needless to say, the bed is going in the bin 🤦‍♀️😂

Hartpury was run incredibly well and I loved watching all the beautiful horses! I can't wait for the next one!!

Having a play with Claude over some jumps last week 😁 He's already substantially softer and looking super smart on the flat and giving me a lovely ride! Now to work on getting the jumping abit smoother, but there's no question of a doubt that he loves it 😁

A little reminder of how far Douglas has come! The hours of leading him down and across the main road have paid off! I can now ride down with one hand and video 🤣 and he's super chilled! We even have cattle 🐄 the other side of the hedge, which back along would have sent him into meltdown, now he just walks past 😁 This was Saturday morning, normally we have lorries to contend with aswell and they go the same speed, because unfortunately coming down the hill, they don't see us until it's too late.

Thanks to Julia Auger & Rachel Shire who helped us on our first few ridden rides across the road. And now we go solo 😁

Such a transformation of the lovely Bab's in only a couple of weeks! She really is a super sweet mare that just needs to work on relaxation and building topline due to being a little older and having some babies.

I also got to have a ride on her stable mate Sparkle this week, of which I was pleasantly surprised, after the briefing from her owner 🤣 So we will continue with her schooling over the next few weeks and see where we get 😁

Really enjoying working with these two mares and their lovely owners Elaine Elliott & Natalie Elizabeth who I worked with a few years ago with different horses. They always have the horses best interest at heart and are so willing to learn, which makes my job so rewarding! 😁

My little powerhouse doing another training session at Chard Equestrian yesterday! Alot more to cope with this time and we had lots of tension, but also some really lovely moments 😍

There's still a million miles to go, but we're on the right road 😁

We ventured to Chard Equestrian for the first time today and he was amazing, only one spook and an almost broken finger 🤦‍♀️🤣 other than that, impeccably behaved!

It's taken us a year, but I really feel like we're making progress now!

Busy week this week, lots of horses ridden and a real variation of breeds & heights, ranging from an 11hh Dartmoor hill pony, to a 16.3hh Dutch Harness horse and pretty much everything you can think of in between. A Welsh section C, American Paint X Appalossa X Cob, a Pure Bred Arab & a Warmblood 🤣

Kaboo, a young and very green American paint x Appalossa x Cob. He's starting to learn the basics in the arena and is green as grass, but he was very willing and reminded me how much I love working with young horses!

Tinkerbell, my best friends 11hh Dartmoor hill lead rein pony. She needed abit of guidance on how to be ridden off the lead rein and not to just stop for snacks. 🤣 I laughed through most of my ride, but she learnt quickly and will hopefully be abit easier for her little rider next time.
