HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OUR FOLLOWERS!
We have taken a much needed and well earned rest.
On our return, we thought we'd start 2023 by giving those of you who are starting or restarting your fitness journey's like so many millions around the country - by giving you some top tips to get going.
Here goes!
1. Have realistic expectations of yourself and don't overcommit. It's important to ride the wave of motivation too, so 2-3 sessions per week is a great guide when starting training to reach your goals. More isn't better, better is better (Y)
2. Getting stronger means you're building muscle. This is important especially if you're trying to lose bodyfat. You'll retain muscle tissue and quite possibly even build some at the same time. You can't do that by just doing cardio (Y)
3. Don't rely on will power! Have your kitchen environment set up for success. Will power can be drained very quickly via a poor nights sleep, a stressful day and more. Set yourself up to succeed with your environment so when you have those moments of weakness (we all do!) you have the best possible set up to succeed.
4. Set goals. Make them SMART based and write them down somewhere. It will help with accountability and its proven in many studies (and from our years of experience) that this is a far better strategy for long term success.
5. You can't out train a poor diet. If you're trying to lose bodyfat, then its paramount to focus on a quality diet and a calorie deficit for fat loss.
6. Learn how to make enjoyable, quick meals in bulk. Everybody is busy in 2023, make your life easier by making this a habit.
7. You don't need to cut everything you enjoy out. You can absolutely have flexibility in your diet, its important to have a social life, and a few beers/wines a week isn't going to ruin your progress long term!
8. Sleep is vastly underrated in health and fitness. Focus on improving your sleep and watch how much easier everything else becomes in life!
9. Find a tribe. A team ethic will help you progress far quicker than on your own. That's what makes football such a big sport!
10. Enjoy it! Progress isn't linear, everyone has ups and downs, but as soon as you stop focusing on the end goal and learn to enjoy the process - you'll get there in a far easier manner!
Best wishes to all for the year!
