I am a Personal Trainer based in Chandlers Ford but covering Hampshire, Dorset and anywhere within a reasonable distance. I am qualified in also providing one on one, or group sessions in Gym Based Boxing Circuits, Spin and Circuits. 50m pool this week.

Much more endurance work, especially with the Hand Paddles (no stopping turning and kicking off the wall every 25m)

200m intervals this evening. 200m normal swimming then 200m with Hand Paddles.

So I could push it on each interval I made sure I recovered.

Average 100m pace was slower than when swimming in the 25m pool but that's too be expected.

A little swell in the sea for the first time in a while; but feeling really good on the outward leg and made it all the way to Highcliffe Castle Beach. 1500 metres in just over 30 minutes.

Then the return to leg back to the Noisy Lobster started.

This time against the tide and kept being pushed into the shore.

After 45 minutes I made it to within 400m ish of my start point; but I wasn't making any headway against the tide.

So I had to give up.

Still can't be disappointed with 2700m.

After taking over 2 hours to get to Mudeford the tide was virtually at low tide; so I had to walk out for ages to be able to stay swimming.

For the first time I managed to get to Highcliffe Castle beach before I turned around; after having swum 1609 metres (1 mile).

Then the swim back started!

I felt like I was making good progress, I could see I was passing points on the shore but after a while I checked my watch.

38 mins to swim the first mile; 30 mins to swim 800m!!!

It was a great workout on the shoulders, back and legs.

Was absolutely gutted my watch ran out of battery when it did it definitely swam further; but if it's not on Strava it didn't happen.

250m Swim with hands followed by 250m with the Hand Paddles.

Really pushed it tonight and the times showed how much.

Fastest ever 100m average time during one of the legs - 1 min 58 seconds! And finished with an average of 2 minutes 3 seconds.

After an incredibly hot day, for he UK, teaching Bikeability; it was definitely time to head for the coast and go for a swim.

The sea was inviting cool. Not so cold there was cold water shock when I put my shoulders under but also not so warm that it was uncomfortable.

Headed to Highcliffe Castle beach and together around 1500m, hoping that, from experience, the return trip would get me close to 3200m.

Instead, the return trip was only 1200m. If anyone can explain that to me, I would be grateful.

Still 90 minutes swimming felt so good.

Chandler's Ford Swifts Running Club​ hills session.

Trevose Crescent is a step hill.

4 cones set along it. So the circuit was:

1st cone and back.
2nd cone and back
3rd cone and back
4th cone and back then,
3, 2, 1 and rest for 2 mins.

Then repeat.

Hill training is hard but it has so many benefits.

Started off with my little girl at her first ParkRun and deciding to interval train it.

Niamh was suffering with a bad cold and but still managed 1km.

A lady had joined us in the interval training in that time so I continued interval training with her and encouraging her around.

Intense HIIT workout when I got home last night.

Using the Bulgarian Bag and Kettlebells there were 10 exercises with 45 seconds of work and 15 seconds of rest with 3 complete circuits.

Felt good and need to create a new routine.

Wow what a swim.

Split into 4 lots of 400m and sprinted/swam as fast as I could.

2 minute 8 second average for 100m!!

And that included 1 x 100m at 1 minute 42 seconds!!

The speed is definitely coming in the 25 metre pool.

To transfer some of this into the 50m in the New Year sometime and then hopefully next year is better for sea swimming.

That was a great ride.

Blue skies, fluffy white clouds and great coffee and cake at .kitchen Beaulieu.

For the first time in ages I was able to get out on the bike for a good ride and at the end my legs felt good and I could have kept going; if it wasn't for meeting up with family.

So that was an excellent feeling knowing I could have kept going.

Another solid week for getting distance in the legs and arms.

Although down on distance for the bike and swim the riding included more hills so felt just as far and the swimming I pushed the pace and was pleased to average 2 minutes 24 seconds per 100 metres.

Looking forward to a long ride this weekend to Christchurch.
