Whether you’re someone who enjoys jumping but prefers to keep it small, working to build confidence in a young horse, preparing to move up a level, gaining experience with fillers and more technical fences, or getting ready for competition—my approach offers clear guidance, structured support, and consistent encouragement.

In light of the outbreak of equine influenza, we have been instructed by British Dressage to adhere to the following protocols. All BD members will have received the an email from BD with the following information. This will also apply to Unaffiliated Competitors who may not be a BD Member. Please do read through the below so you can be prepared on the day.

As a result of the increase in reported cases of equine influenza, the Equine Infectious Diseases Action Group has recommended that there needs to be a period of increased vigilance and monitoring to help prevent a further spread of the disease.

The following protocols will therefore be implemented with immediate effect by all BD venues to ensure the continued safe running of competitions during the current EI outbreak. Please note that these remain in line with BD existing rules and regulations.

Passport checks
Vaccination checks for all horses will now be in operation at BD affiliated venues for competition and training activity. These will be taken on arrival at the venue and before unloading. PLEASE HAVE YOUR PASSPORTS READY FOR INSPECTION AT THE GATE LEADING INTO THE CENTRE

Unvaccinated / lapsed horses arriving on site will not be allowed to unload or compete. This will also apply to all horses competing in unaffiliated activity. Organisers are not obliged to offer refunds for withdrawals for this reason, as stipulated in the Members’ Handbook (rule 10, page 64). This is also stipulated in WFEC's t's and c's at time of booking.

Competition
Lorries and trailer parking will be carefully monitored to ensure adequate distancing between vehicles.

Competitors will be allowed adequate time to warm up and cool down but not to remain at the venue for longer than necessary.
