3rd - 7th May

A Brief Summary of the Trip

Trying to encapsulate the days we had in Greece last week in a few short words seems almost impossible. I could go on endlessly about the landscapes, the mountains, the olive groves and forever looking down onto the orange-red roof-topped hill villages and the shimmeringly blue seascapes of the Messinian Sea in the distance. But honestly the most important thing about this trip were the people who came along and made every day so memorable and such great fun.

We always have the makings of an incredible running break because of the location.. . and the company on this most recent trip was amazing once again. We all made new friends in such a short space of time out in Greece, and that has only added to our love of the Mani trails and our desire to return there as soon as we can.. so watch this space! 🙂

Huge Thankyous to all of our guests and we hope to see you all again somewhere and sometime in the near future.

So until we do.. keep running, keep smiling and keep doing what you love to do.. for as long as you can do it.!

We’ll see you out on the trails again at some point!

PURETRAIL MANI ADVENTURE

DAY 4

We went higher than on previous days, up to 950m from our base in Kardamyli at sea level, up to Doubitsa, where the vertiginous limestone trails widen into a little alpinesque plateau.. delightfully located below the towering Profitis Ilias.. Mt.Taygetus.

It was a sharp descent back down to the Vyros Gorge, and then onward to the perfectly pitched Panorama Taverna for a well-earned drink and a bite to eat.. to sustain us back to our resting place in Kardamyli.

What a great day out.. just over 12 miles in total.. almost 4000ft of ascent with the most incredible views of the Messinian Sea, peninsula, and Mt. Taygetus .. 🙂

MANI PENINSULA ADVENTURE

DAY 3

A faster run today as we didn’t go so high. But we went further, covering over 13 miles under a pristinely perfect, big blue Peleponnese sky.

With temperatures around 23 degrees it was on the warm side but we still managed an early afternoon finish. As always, close to the beach for a much needed dip in the sea to cool off!

It was a great day to run, another great day to be here in the Mani.. ❤️☀️

Day 2

So a rather salubrious canter up high to Exochori and Tseria via the mighty Vyros gorge crossing!

Views to die for.. Absolutely amazing.. clear blue skies with the snow-spattered pyramidal peak of Mt.Taygetus the omnipresent backdrop to today’s adventure.. it’s a privilege to be back here again! 🙂

So around 11 miles covered and out for 5 hours with a delightful taverna lunch at Tseria .. 🙏
Topped off with a dip in the shimmeringly blue Messinian Sea back in Kardamyli.. ooooh that was lovely ❤️

More miles tomorrow. Longer but shorter.. time-wise. More great weather is forecast 😎

So our guests have arrived, and they were met by the typically big blue sunny skies of the Mani.

We had a little taster today.. 8 miles with a swim in the azure waters at the halfway point !

Phew! So we’ve finally got our Mani Adventure on, after two years of Covid postponement.

The Puretrail Adventure Crew are out in the sunny Peleponnese right now and we’re looking forward to welcoming our guests tomorrow. The weather is looking fantastic for our running break with temperatures expected to be around 22/23 degrees..

We’ve done a couple of recce runs to make sure the trails are ship-shape and as we left them in 2019..

Well.. we can report that they are in fine fettle, and we can’t wait to show our intrepid guests around the hills and olive groves of the Mani.. it’s absolutely stunning! 😎

MANI PENINSULA, GREECE

3rd - 7th May

Only seven weeks to go now until we kick off our trail running trips to the Mani Peninsula. We’ve been away for two years and it’s going to be amazing to get back out there again in the sun, running the olive grove mountain trails beneath the towering snow-capped Taygetus.

Springtime in the Mani is such a vibrant time of year, and the whole landscape is ablaze with wildflowers and birdsong. Our trail base at Kardamyli, on the shores of the brilliant blue Messinian Sea is idyllic, and perfectly placed for relaxing after a day out on the trails..

At present we have two places still available on our trip. We have hotel and self catering available.

It’ll be here before we know it.. 4 days of sun-kissed mountains, gorges and olive grove trail running.

Following ancient trails into the Taygetus Mountains from our trail-base in Kardamyli, on the edge of the shimmering Messinian Sea.

Guided Puretrail Running with accommodation and airport transfers included.

Choice of Hotel bed and breakfast or self catering.

After two years away we’re really looking forward to this one!
