DARTMOOR VOLCANO RACE

Saturday 12th September

Just 5 weeks to go now .. until Dartmoor’s most uniquely quirky fell race kicks off for the 2027 edition.

There’s 3 river crossings, three tors, two bogs.. a myriad of mud baths.. a clapper bridge and a volcano to climb .. all in the space of 10.5 exceptionally scenic moorland miles!

We don’t do easy.. but we do great type 2 fun! 🤩

TRAIL & SAIL CROATIA 2026

We’ve just finished our 2026 trip around the Dalmatian islands! 😍

This year we explored the lesser known islands of Šolta, Zlarin and Kornati .. Omiš (our base) and Skradin in the National Park of Krka
They’re not places you would normally see in the travel brochures.. they’re quiet, relaxed and off the beaten tourist path, and gave us another amazing experience in Dalmatia on our second Trails & Sails Adventure.

Time passes quietly and slowly aboard our traditional sailing boat the Dalmatinka. There’s no rush. A myriad of islands slip by amid the serene blue of the Adriatic, until we set the anchor pre-lunch for our daily swim. 🙂

6pm: The Evening Run.

The trails are dry, rocky and technical in places. We run on average 10-12km each day, lead by our Croatian guide - Marko. What he doesn’t know about these trails really isn’t worth knowing. His knowledge of the islands transcends his running ability. He’s the oracle. It’s far more than trail running when Marko leads the group! 👌

Ivo, the captain of the Dalmatinka, is also a runner and hiker of exceptional ability.. he has won many competitions in the Dalmatian mountains. Preferring hiking these days to running. Ivo often leads a hike from the boat, with Marko heading out with the runners.

** Sometimes we run in the morning. This is dependent on sailing times.

Life on board:
The Dalmatinka is very social, we often have post-run refreshments.. and the mid-week party is legendary! Breakfast and lunch are provided each day.

On the trails:
It’s social running. It’s all good fun but we treat the trails seriously as there’s usually a fair amount of ascent, and the temperatures can reach 32 degrees or more, even though we run early evening or morning. It’s not easy but it’s fun! All abilities are welcome..

Seven days and seven trails means around 40+ miles during the week 🙂

* We trialled short conditioning classes each morning this time around and it’s possible we may include this in our 2027 trip alongside a pre-run stretch.

CROATIA TRAIL & SAIL 2026

4th - 11th July

We’re three days in, with 3 trails already in the bag and it’s absolutely gorgeous out here sailing around the Dalmatian Islands..

The sun is blazing, so we’re having to run late in the day ..or morning.. but it’s still a challenge in these temperatures 😮‍💨
However, there’s nothing better after a drystone rocky 10km (ish) trail run than plunging into the cooling azure waters of the shimmering Adriatic .. It’s Amazing! 🤩

So far, we’ve visited the trails of Omiš, Zlarin and Kornati and they’ve been incredibly beautiful, very technical in places and challenging.. as always!

We’ve even had dolphins surfing the bow-wave of our boat today!
Absolutely spectacular! Never seen this before.. 😮‍💨

We’re looking forward to more islands and more of the same (but different).

We had an amazing time at this year’s TAYGETOS Adventure .. and we’ll be going back out to the Peleponnese again in 2027.. taking part in the TAYGETOS Mountain Marathon (or Half Marathon), and running / hiking the trails beforehand.. 😀

The dates have just been finalised, and it’s going to be Five Days in the Peleponnese from Thursday 25th - Tuesday 30th March. It’ll be the Easter Weekend next year! 🙂
