Finally, it’s time to introduce our social secretary, Henri French-Williams.

The best short leg since Ian Bell, he developed a fine partnership with wicket keeper Cam, when it came to flirting with opposition batsmen. Alongside this, he refused to bowl (due to bouncing himself) but scored more BUCS runs than the incoming president (he made me include this, Matt). Exercising caution whilst batting, this does not apply to his drinking, making himself unable to walk home on the second social this year.

Club highlights include opening the batting on debut, to be given out for obstructing the field only for the opposition captain to recall him. However, once moved to short leg he shone on the field, throwing body parts that should not have cricket balls hitting them at every leg side shot a batsman played.

On the social scene, Henri is a lively part of the cricket club, and is the ideal choice for next year’s social secretary. Many a can drunk in training for this role, if he stopped going to Pier Pressure on a Wednesday, they’d have to shut down due to loss of revenue.

The fourth member to be announced in the committee introduction is the new Secretary/Welfare Officer Edward Adams aka ‘The Pope’

The Pope, Who only began playing cricket last year has proven to become a great asset for the team on and off the pitch.

As a frequent attendee of trainings and socials he has had his fair share of memorable moments with the club which include taking 4fer (would’ve been 5 if the outgoing Pres didn’t drop a dolly) on his bowling debut , that included some rather interesting variations, such as ‘the other square break’ and the ‘two bounce Yorker’.

Meanwhile, With the bat he started off the season soundly with a solid knock of 15 on his batting debut, however his form diminished as the season progressed, which resulted in him having the joint lowest amount of BUCS runs in the team alongside our leg spinner Dylan. (Sorry lads)

On the social side of things “The Pope” has shown to be great character who is always contributing well on Wednesday Social Nights. (Despite not being able to hack it on a consistent basis and leaving socials early far too regularly)

In all, He should stand well as Secretary and Welfare Officer based off his great commitment to the club in his first year.

The third new committee member to be introduced this week, is our incoming Treasurer Omair Syed Zubair.
An off break bowler and handy batsman, Omair’s season was sadly cut short by an injury against University of West England 2nds. We are all looking forward to seeing him fit and out in the middle for AUCC again, while plying his trade for the town CC at the weekend.

Next we have Mr Captain, Ash Oakes.
Returning to the team after a year abroad, he came back with a bang in our final game of last season against Uni of Gloucestershire. The native Bristolian returned with two wickets (echoes of Ronaldo against Newcastle, sorry Doddsy) including one in his first over and an important stint with the bat demonstrated his captaincy credentials.

It’s the time of year when we begin to introduce our incoming committee, starting with president Matt Dodds.
A Newcastle United fan (what a struggle) and middle order batsman who protects the middle of his bat exceptionally well, he is a stalwart of AUCC and ready to lead the club into the next stage of its development. During the off season, he plies his time with American Football, and represents Aberystwyth Town CC at the weekend, walking to and from the middle with metronomic regularity.

It’s the time of year where we begin to introduce our new committee, and we’re starting with incoming president Matt Dodds. A middle order batsman who looks after the middle of his bat with extreme care, he is looking forward to guiding the club through the next stage of its development, having been a stalwart member for the last two seasons.
During the off season he plies his trade with American Football, and also represents Aberystwyth Town CC on weekends, walking to and from the middle with metronomic regularity.

BUCS Gameweek 1 sees the boys travel to Cardiff cricket club to face Cardiff Met 4s. The boys are rested and are in full confidence for the game we just have to deliver in our first BUCS fixture for 3 years
