At 46 years of age I was lying on my sofa one day when my four year old son looked down upon me with his large brown eyes and said "Daddy can we play together?" But Daddy couldn't play because Daddy was always laid up with a bad back so I went and had an MRI scan and was told "Take the pain of have the operation" I thought there might be another way. So I decided to look at getting myself in bette
r shape and losing some weight whilst building my core strength up. Me being me I had to make things a little more difficult for myself so I decided to set myself a goal and compete in a natural bodybuilding show, I was a competitive bodybuilder many many years ago. Six months after I started my transformation I was stepped out on stage and competed in the Masters Over 40's five stone lighter than when I started. Yes I had dropped 70lbs in body fat, I placed third in that show. I then competed again the following year and would of last year but I had to pull out due to having an arm operation on a nerve impingement which pout me out for several months. I am now back competing as a natural bodybuilder, next year I hit the Over 50's and I feel like a brand new man and Daddy can play with his three young children when they ask. For a couple of years I avoided exercises that I thought would make my back problem and pain worse being told "take the pain" so subconsiously thats what I did, I avoided things. Then by luck more than judgement I questioned why I was doing what I was doing, avoiding exercises and had a chat with a top Physio explaining my thoughts and my dilemma. Basically long story short I was avoiding the very things that would strengthen my back and glutes and now I am pain free after being told "take the pain" Sometimes we need to confront our fears , we need to step up and say enough is enough and dig in deep. Sometimes we have to put all the excuses aside and find just one single reason why we CAN. I believe that life is not just for living, its for living happy and healthy.
