It needs to stop 🛑
Stop thinking that the smaller, skinnier, lighter, you is healthier or worth more! ✋🏽
Losing fat for health purposes YES! But let’s not take that too far…… people on all sorts of pills, jags and potions to “get skinny” ….. No!
Left Picture - Just after my 1st tour of Afghanistan 2008, that Dawn would do nothing but run and insanity with big Sean T if not at boxing camp. After that tour I was the smallest I’ve ever been at 50kg..and probably the unhealthiest.
The amount of compliments I got, telling me I looked great when I got home were mental….I did NOT lose this weight in a healthy way, funnily enough sh****ng in a hole, with minimal water, stinking food, and sweating from every or***ce on your body in unbearable heat for 6 months would do that 🫠
I was NOT healthy! I was smaller but not healthy.
I was weak, I couldn’t squat my own weight ,do a pull up, endurance wasn’t good, I could go 12 rounds in the ring and run, that was pretty much it 🤷🏽♀️
Right Picture - Dawn now. 10kg heavier, fitter, faster, decent endurance, stronger, healthier and a hell of a lot more knowledgeable, and I don’t need to 💩 in a bag or a hole.
Do you know what is worrying though….
We don’t see it often enough, bigging people up for getting themselves fitter, congratulating them for getting stronger, bettering their health, doing hard stuff…..instead it comes when a few pounds have been lost, dress sizes down…..regardless how they got there or how miserable they are, they will be congratulated 👀
This needs to change! Again losing fat is not bad if someone’s health is awful because of it!
And I do believe that The smallest, tiniest, skinniest you is probably NOT the best, healthiest, happiest, fittest or strongest version of YOU!
Or at least It definitely wasn’t for me!
